Title says it.
I wear 1.5k armor I don't care about looks. I have met the biggest noobs wearing FoW armor why do people waste money on these things that you'll get tired of a few days later.
I'd rather spent 60K on a 10/10 suldering +30 Health sword.
Why do People waste Money on 15k or FoW armor?

the people wearing FOW are either hard workers gathering and farming ectos and shards to look kewl.. others are ebayers..
yes same stats.. but also a diffrent look...people have excess gold and they use it on themself.. i myself only wear 1.5 k armor..and i never ebay...
think about it... you have a old car.. you got the cash. treat yourself to something new..and some fow armor looks pretty kewl..but i think ill save my plats for assasin when it comes.

I see your point but still I hear a guildie which goes:
Guildie: Can I have 10k for my 15K armor
Me: why do you need it you have 1.5K armor
Guildie: But I want it
Me: YOU should earn the money for something extra
And another one the says:
Guildie: Man I keep dieing because I don't have Sup Vigor
Me: Why don't you save to get it
Guildie: Well I NEED 15K armor first!
Me: >.<

I spent the first four months that I played this game saying the same thing -- FOW armor didn't make a bit of sense to me, for the reasons you stated.
I'm not saying that you're wrong.
But I finished the game several times with several different professions, got my share of brute swords, crystaline swords, etc. ... not by being terrific, but just because I played so danged long.
So finally I bought FOW armor. I didn't see a reason not to buy it. It wasn't as if I could use the gold I accumulated in the game to buy groceries, or clothes, or a new car.

15K stuff looks better, you got it and many others dont, it makes you somewhat different and perhaps the impression of being rich. Why would people spend 200k++ on Porshe or Ferrari whereas a Ford or Toyota can offer similar performance? Because pople can and maybe dont have anythign else to spend money on.
Because I like to look different, and most of them look better than 1.5k armour. I have a PvE ranger I use in PvP. It has 3 sets of 15k armour, and I got them because they look different (and better) to the regular sets. I have a monk I am bringing up in PvE for PvP what is going to have mainly 1.5k armour, because most of the monk 15k armours aren't that impressive.
Bad comparison. Porches and Ferraris are significantly better in performance and appearance than Fords and Toyotas.

I'd kick him faster than...-_- nvm.
Well, it all really boils down to aesthetics, if you ask me (which I know you didn't, but i'll ramble on anyway ...
)
If you've got the extra gold, and you have nice weapons and such already: why not? Sure it is no difference statistic-wise, but it's the same reason Fellblades and Stormbows sell for more than their "normal" skinned weapons of the same variety ... they have a unique look and feel to them, and that makes some people feel good.
It's the same feeling, albeit on a lesser scale, as going out and buying yourself a nice suit, or a new pair of sneakers ... you don't technically "need" new ones (unless your toes are hanging out!
) but it is a luxury that you can treat yourself to if you can afford it.
Personally, i've bought 2 sets of 15k armor, and don't really plan on buying any others. My current "investments", if you will, are focusing on helping out my guild members and investing in our guild hall ... maybe buy a hot tub for that thing, or something

Why spent money on stuff that can go 225 KM/H when the speed limit is 100 km/h
?
