She won't go with you, she only follows you through the hillside area outside Ascalon (pre-searing).
If you're thinking of going to the Academy, make damned sure you've done all your 'skill quests'.
I spent about 10 hours in Pre-Searing with my W/Mo, did every single quest I could find (there may be more... I found a LOT of the map was explorable, and probably skipped a few spots), and I finally left when I was lvl 8.

When you enter the Academy... I can only say, "Welcome to the real world."
There is no turning back
. Also, get as much xp and salvagable goods and gold as you can... several years of inflation can really add up. Also, yes, do the missions to get the starter skills, else you will have to spend skill points to get them in the future.
Gwen is loveable, but it is time to let go... you never know when she may turn up again

No you get ALOT more skills after leaving and going to the academy. In fact you only get a tiny fraction beforehand.
And the ones you don't get pre-searing you can get post-seraing by buying them (10 gold and 1 skill point) or the first couple of quests will usually give them as a reward.
You should leave for the academy with about 12 skills depending on your primary secondary.
After that you will discover/earn/buy dozens more.

You can ONLY get 6 primary skills and 4 secondary skills, BEFORE you go to the Academy. All we're saying is; "Don't miss any of those 10 skills... you'll need them".
No, there are 150 skills per set, primary and secondary, and the remaining 144/146 are all AFTER the Academy. :P
And as Jana said... welcome to the real world.
Say goodbye to trees, and general greenery for quite some time though. It's called 'The Searing' for a reason.
Not 144 but look here to see how many

And pre-searing you can get hammer skills and axe skills on top of the sword skills you have, before going to the academy.

OMG yes. Hundreds, and I mean HUNDREDS.

Fortunetly, most you can get through quests, but you can always buy them (using gold and skill points) from specific trainers if you are in a rush for something specific. Now getting to some of these trainers may be a tad tricky

Let's see, atm I have 6 Necro skills, 3 warrior skills, that's nine... so there's a skill floating around there somewhere, huh? Wait, you mean I get another one hundered and forty some-odd skills AFTER the nine I have now? |
I don't know how you wound-up with 3 warrior skills... that's just wierd. Since you are a warrior secondary, you should've had two different warrior trainers in Pre-Searing Ascalon, each of which gives you two skills, for a total of 4.
Then you had the initial Guard/trainer to give you your first two necro skills, and the two Necros out in Ascalon to give you an additional 4 (for 6 total, which you have).
If you do only have 9 total (really really strange) then don't worry about the one you're missing... you can pick it up later from a skills trainer.
If you're around lvl 6 or so, I'd say it's high time to visit the Academy, and see what happens!

I think only primaries get frenzy pre-academy.
There are two more trainers inside baradin's estate in green hills that will teach you a knockdown hamemr skill, an extra damage axe skill and an pbaoe axe skill

Well put
. That's what I thought too when I saw it and THEN when I realized I had to pick 8 out of 140+... I mean sheesh, talk about a dilemma.Of course, one can always go back and try new sets and combos and see what works well and what doesn't - knowing full well that the odds of anyone having the exact same 8 skills setup as you is very slim.

Having to pick skills, as much of a dillema as it is, makes this game a LOT more strategic than a typical MMO...
And to anyone who says this isn't an MMO... well, you're wrong, this is an MMO that has come up with anti-gank systems, no monthly fees, and no trudging through long stretches of bland terrain.
