Sounds like a heat issue due to it taking about 30 minutes.

When I was having graphics issues back shortly after GW release, they suggested I check for heat issues with my card and recommended Everest Home Edition to check for it

http://www.lavalys.com/index.php?pag...173;&subpage=5

Play the game, wait for it to crash and then go check the card temperature, assuming your card can monitor it's temperature.

i am having probs with my graphics card. i have geforce 4000MX, and i know it sucks, but alot of the textures in the game mess up, i can se thro the floor, i can see texture maps on my shield, my whole computor lags when i go into the bags or belt pouches. it also lags whenever i complete a mission and the shield and swords pop up, or at the beggining of a gvg match when the capes and guild name/ranking appears. any1 got a soluion, other than upgrade (i am broke).

ps reflections dont work either. i dobt get the glow around bosses, and i dont get the silver effect on capes or weapons. basically GW looks like a pile of poo. my question eally is, is this normal for my GPU, or is it becoause my GPU is working below its optimum

I have a Radeon X300 and so far the only problems I have had is every once in a while a characters will turn into a white box and its easily solved by restarting GW... although I have been wondering on how to check the temperature of the card (other than touching it) if theres an app I can run to test it or something of that sort that anyone knows about let me know because I noticed when Im playing GW the card is like a frying pan.

I have the same graphics card shich i got a couple years ago. I came across an article that talked specifically about the FX series having these types of problem. The site said that the newest Forceware should fix the problem. I tried it out and it seems to have worked. I hope this will help.

please use the edit instead of double posting.

what you are seeing are visual *artifacts* due to excessive stress on the card, excess heat or it is simply going poof.

check to see if it is still under warranty .

if so describe the effects you are seeing and ger an RMA for replacement.

HEAT

fastest way to check is to open the side of the case and use a mirror (or remove the card) and look for dust bunnies on the fan/heatsink) and place a table fan pointed into the case at the video card and see if that cures the problem or if it takes longer to develop

5200 FX? Yes?

Taken from the Official Guild Wars website:

Quote:
There is a known issue with NVidia GeForce FX video cards (GPUs) and driver version 61.77 when the user has changed "Image Settings" to "High performance". Some of the problems include missing terrain. The solution is to change your video settings to "High quality". To do this, follow these instructions: On Windows XP:

* Open Display Properties control panel
* Click Settings tab
* Click Advanced button
* Click GeForce "Version" tab
* Select Performance and Quality Settings in left window
* In the Global Driver Settings window select Image Settings
* Move the slider to the right to "High quality"

The video cards/GPUs that are affected by this problem are:

* GeForce FX 5200 ******<--------
* GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5500
* GeForce FX 5700
* GeForce FX 5700 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5700LE
* GeForce FX 5900
* GeForce FX 5900 Ultra
* GeForce FX 5900 XT
* GeForce FX 5950 Ultra
* GeForce PCX 5300
* GeForce PCX 5750
* GeForce PCX 5900

Not really, not everyone would think to look under "Game Info" in another menu on the GW Website, they'd look under Support, so not your fault.

I cleaned out the dust from the fan and its spiffy clean now.. also a good program to make sure youre fan and graphics card and such isnt overheating is Motherboard monitor you can also set up a warning alarm to go off if it is getting to hot.. really a neat program.

Peewee I get the EXACT same graphic problems..

But I know it's not overheating, at all it just sucks =P

But also my processor is shit. A little sempron from compaq (bought a new comp waiting for it to get here) I have sucks.

I HAVE to play on the lowest graphics on this crap card and on the crap comp so.. for some it's the card but for me it's actually the whole computer.

Try going to nVidia's website and downloading the latest drivers for your card?

Or, if you have the money, maybe buy a Sapphire Radeon 9600 AGP X8 256MB DDR for £40 of www.ebuyer.com ...

I'm no expert in Computers, I just remember reading that on the GW Website and noticed you had that model card, so I thought it'd be worth a try. :S

The 9600 above is what I have at the minute and it works great.

That is a puzzeler....

So you are saying you updated all your chipset,video,BIOs, etc,etc?

This is a stretch...but...I have heard of a virus that gets into the BIOs and is a real bear to remove. Even after a reformat. That is a pure guess. I wish I could be there and look at your system....things like this bug me.

Have you tried another graphic/memory/CPU demanding game or program? This is to see if you can crash it again. Like CoD2?

Or maybe your GW disk got messed up somehow? That is another stretch.

You said you have 512Mb of Ram....have you tried it with one stick of 256Mb? (assuming you have 2x256)

Lets us know down the road....now you have me wondering.

i have a sempron 2800+, which is infact 2ghz, that does not seem to be the prob, overheating shouldnt be a prob either, got plenty of fans around. dl the latest drivers, its still looking rubbish. i have seen the game running on a inferior computor, apart from the fact that he has a geforce 5500 FX (or 5200, Cant remmeber the bloody numbers) all the reflections work, the game runs more smoothly, and it just generally looks more crisp.

perhaps game makers should set up a page for ppl to show screenies of their game in action with various settings, set up a search type thing to find a pc that is similar to urs, and then check out the graphics b4 hand, rather than being wowed by the graphics, told that ur GPU is well above recommended, and yet i still am not seeing the game as intended. that way ppl could help ppl out, the developers would certainly have to answer less complaints at support, and the consumer benefits. of course it might mean that more ppl would buy the game, but i would have anyway had, dont knowabout any1 else.

thanks for the help, but it looks like a new GPU is on my christmas list. Hope to be seeing all of u reflecting come the 26th
