I've done this mission with 3 characters and got there with my 4th last night... this mission got a lot harder with the AoE changes... the monk boss/priest combo at the end is hard with henchies, as you can't shut down the monk boss while the others take out the priest, since the henchies will always fight what you fight... damn those stoopid henchies! Previously the stupid priest would stand in Orion's firestorm, but of course now he runs out (which I'm all for). However, the monk boss is a pretty good healer and makes great use of Word of Healing.
I've pretty much decided you need a minimum of two players on this mission now, one to baby-sit the monk boss and one to take out the priest with the henchies. If others have managed to do this "post-AoE changes" with a full team of henchies I'd be interested in hearing...

I run it using henchies, leaving the tanks at home because they tend to run off and aggro in close quarters. Do Elona the same way. Used to take Orion until they changed aoe.
Took one of my r/mo's through Thirsty last night using Lina, Alesia, Reyna, Claude, Dunham, and my level 20 cat. Put the majority of my points in smiting and beast mastery. Used smiting staff of course, in place of a bow. Claude does a great job of keeping you charged up. Used the timing trick posted elsewhere on the forums (a great idea). Attack the priests, which sics the cat on them, and then throw Balthazar's Aura on the cat. Unload the smites on them, and they go down quick, even the last priest. Josso fights on a little longer, but then it's all over.

I'm surprised you succeeded with this tactic... Your group's damage output would have been fairly small and wasn't the priest running all over the place to get away from the AoE? Was Jasso the monk boss afk? ![]() |

Oh poop. My mistake.
All you really need is someone to interrupt/black out the Monk Boss's skills and you'll be fine. Kill quickly, time your attacks, and make sure that you're out of the base if the enemies are about to resurrect. Standard tactics, I guess. Always interrupt the monk boss, not the priest of the last area. If you do, you won't kill the priest in time, as the boss will just keep speed-healing it.

Of all the AOE elementalist spells, meteor shower still works. I used it to good advantage last night, helping a group get through this (I was capping Ether Renewal, which was cool). They failed the first time, got mission and bonus the second because they paid attention to the monk who knew what he was doing.
Ranger/Mesmer interrupts are also extremely useful. Patience is truly a virtue with this mission. And the ability to watch the clock and know when to attack.
Cynthia (IGN Cybele Pandion, now sporting Ether Renewal)

I'm not saying this mission can't be done, just saying it is now extremely hard with henchies... you can't interrupt/baby-sit the monk and expect the henchies to take out the priest...
As a warrior/monk, equip Succor and use it on Lina and Alesia and then use all adrenaline and signets for yourself. That extra energy will make all the difference. I completed Thirsty and Elona this way wil my wa/mo and ne/mo, who relied on Soul Reaping and less costly blood spells, and even had to just wand them to death. Be patient.

Sure you can
casting on the boss doesn't cause your henches to switch targets. Just CTRL+Space the priest and CTRL+Shift+Space the boss, and cast away
Just don't attack the boss... or the henches will switch targets.

No, Josso and the priest just stood their ground. Now, I was right behind the cat and in their face. Maybe the priest was body blocked by Josso, the cat, and myself. At any rate, he folded up quickly and Josso defended himself for a short while before going down.
Had charm animal, comfort animal, scourge healing, bane signet, holy strike, banish, smite, and Balthazar's aura in the bar. 12 each in smiting prayers and beast mastery. Back in August I put my first r/mo through there (on the 10th try) with this same configuration, except taking Orion in place of Claude, and judge's insight instead of Balthazar's aura. It worked, but it was close. Wrote it down, so as not to forget it.
The new modifications work better.

This is fine if you're a Mesmer, SOL otherwise...
Mister_Overhill, yes, I can see Scourge Healing owning here, but again, SOL if you aren't a Monk primary or seconday.

Ok, I beated the mission too now.
Just With 3 warriors, 2 monks and an elementalist.
The 3d arena, attack the left ( toughest ) group first.
Kill 3 / 4 enemy's and then at 1.00/1.10 rush priest.
With all 6 people ATTACK priest.
If he doesnt die in 10 seconde before res timer runs out, then fall back and re-group....
After res timer runs out and enemys are resurected, attack again....
After 2 times fall back and re-grouped this mission was beated by me and my team m8's.....
1 advise... Dont let Ghostly Hero help you to attack, cause he is weak and if he is dead..... YOU FAIL...

Hats off to you if you have, and please let us in on the secret.
