i been playing this game for 6 onths and still love to play it but i noticed a big drop in players like what is going on my freinds list used to be like 1/2 online most of the time and now about 3 online (out of 32) so thats a sign of the game dying like what about once the chapter 2 comes out what then!!!???

You kind of wrong pal...

That is not a sign, its a sign that the people on your friends list have quit playing, my friends list is the fairly active. A small number of people doesn't represent the game as a whole.

I haven't seen a drop, my guild is more active then ever, once chapter 2 comes out people will return.

Actually, for me I don't have enough room on my friends list. I almost wish there was a bigger list.

This quote I can hear quite often in conjunction with computer games and I don't know why people having this kind of opinion play games in the first place. I think most people who like to play games consider it a part of their life, just like any other kind of hobby. To put it into other words - if your career is so much more important to you - don't waste your time with games, do overtime work and get promoted!

To get back on topic - no, GW won't die anytime soon. In online games, people come and people go. That has always been that way. You could argue that the time between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 is too long since most active players are done with the content of Chapter 1 and are eagerly awaiting new content. That's the biggest danger right now - bored people. My guild lost some of its most active players due to the fact they didn't know what to do in GW anymore. However, we also got a couple of new members, so our numbers are pretty stable. I guess that's true for GW as a whole, too.

This is where the idea that PvP should be played frequently when you have done with the PvE content. PvP adds alot of replayability, because like all games where you comptete with other people, the game is simply more challenging, and though there is a lack of rewards like items (though thePvE item rewards aren't anything special either), it's alot more satisfying playing a good night of GvG than plying, say, Underworld for the 1000th time.

PvP is of course one of the possible things to do in GW, but given enough time, even this will get boring for all but the most competitive players. From a certain point of view, PvP is just as repetitive as PvE (a relic run will basically always be a relic run, right?). Just as with PvE, PvP needs new content from time to time, too. Like new maps or new mission objectives.

GW is not a cult kinda game. its not the kind of game that gets its whole player base set up within a month of release, then regards any more players as a bonus. because of the lack of monthly fee new people are constantly coming to GW. its like a 'my first on-line game'. it has a rolling population rather than a constant one.

and i don't think i will be bored.

I disagree, if you go to Ascalon and Lion's arch in the English districts, around 5pm to 10pm you'll see it's always crowded like the streets of Sangai.

This game will never die. The free online play just makes it too attractive

"it's called", and there is no "MOORPG" but only "MMORPGs". Many people are just too stupid to even play PvP decently, that's why they get bored. GvG or Tomb, the pinnacles of player vs player, require creativity and skill, and most of PvErs simply don't have them. Now, THIS is sad.
There is no repetitivity whatsoever in PvP, anyone who's convinced of that doesn't even have a slight idea of what PvP is like in GW.

Some of the spoiled kiddies who have too much time to waste on their hands will probably switch to WoW to UBERPWNZOROMFGYOUNOOB low lvl players with their 1337 weapons, whining about the lack of Uberness in GW, and will eventually get back as soon as Chapter 2 is out. Now THIS is sad. I wish they wouldn't.

My respect goes to the adult crowd, to the people who have to leave for valid reasons (university, work and so on). For the rest...less kiddies on?

simply elitest stupid.

why then are many top pvp players complaining of boredom and asking for more of everything from arenas to optional modes because the present setup is *BORING*. you must be very easy to please.

as to being to stupid to pvp to your lofty standards maybe the majority of pve people simply dont care about pvp except as a small side dish not worth the time/effort to be competitive at the top

this game was never intended to be more than a play as you feel like it and put it back on the shelf while you do something else until the next chapter.

Actauly what is happening is the old BWE crew is slowly disapearing, and the new people are comming.

I am happy to say, most of the new people ive met in pre-searing are much more mature then the people we have playing now. There might be a spike of getting missions done without the monk quiting.

I don't think GW will go away for a bit though it might not be something that people will be playing constantly. Sure people come and go. If people on your friends list leave and you still play, you have a new batch of people to make friends with.

I'm sure alot of people will come back for chapter 2.

There's always room for improvement, and optional modes/new arenas are on my list as well. I didn't mean to sound elitist, but most of the people who say "PvP is boring" are the same who only play in random arenas. Now someone will state that I'm generalizing, blah blah blah, how would I know, blah blah blah, but frankly I don't give a hoot. If your guild is playing fine, in an organized way, and you can figure out how to tweak a build, eons will pass before you get bored. If thats not the case, change guild, or maybe the game simply isn't for you (what I said in my previous post).

This game isn't meant to have endless PvE content, and many of the people complaining here just picked the wrong game to me. WoW would fit better for half the GW PvErs.
I'm not saying GW doesn't have its flaws, it does, but many of the people here aren't even directing their criticism at the right things. For example, if GW had more unique, cool looking items, you'd see a major spike in active players. More armors, more customization, and better rewards when you kill a boss/complete an area like UW or FoW would be very nice additions.

You kill a Lich Dragon in the FoW and you get Glittering Dust. This is stupidity at its best. You complete the UW, nothing happens, except people leaving/whining because they didn't get an ecto. You open chests in the Underworld and they drop purple items...this game's PvE deserves soloers, sweatshops and botters as it is now.

Guild Wars is one of the biggest and most successful games on the Net.

What is a pity (and i'm not deliberately trying to troll because i like killing Trolls ) is the potentially damaging titles to various threads that crop up from time to time. Rumours, lies, allegations and paranoia....

If potentially new players browse the forums to enquire about the game and they see a "Guild Wars is dying" thread, do you think they will buy it?

Most people can't play a game for many months solid, so they take a break. It's only the hardcore players and the sweatshop zombies that always remain "online".

Guild Wars has a fantastic future.

Actually this is very normal.

One feature I wish the game had is ability to know when's the last time someone on the friends list was online so I can keep my list clean and also ability to group my friends.
