Pet Improvements + Problems!!!

Does anyone else think the pet feature in guild wars could be drastically improved? I think a Pet screen would be nice, a way to see its damage range, health, armor, evolution bonus’s etc. Also a way to set how it acts for example, aggressive (attacks anything) or passive (only attacks if you attack or attacked) would be such a huge improvement.
And I’m sure everyone out there would LOVE a way to make your pet ATTACK a target without you having to attack first!
This would just be a cool feature but how good would it be if you’re pet actually changed in looks more then a simple glow at lv20? For example a snow wolf turns whiter + teeth become bigger, dune lizard grows horns etc.
Ways your pet can grow, depending on your play style might end up for example with more armor due to you making it take more hits rather then more attack power.
We need a way to reduce the amount of spots needed in your skill bar to have a pet. A good surgestion is to make the charm animal skill and the comfort animal skill into ONE skill. There seriously is no point having 2 skill spots to carry around a pet .
A way to give it items to increase its damage or health or what not there by changing its looks.
More types of pets would be nice too. Ha ha I’m really demanding huh?

Overall people turn to world of warcraft for a better pet system. Alot more to capture. Have there own skills on there OWN skill bar. They grow alot more and are over all alot more rewarding.

Yes with some improvements, I believe pets will be a more common site in PvP because quite frankly they suck at the moment.

I agree to wat you said totally. People r wantin a lot more different kinds of pets especially every1 wants a dragon and no one can get one because of the short list of pets. I think the creators of guild wars need to allow more pets to keep people playin and not turn to WORLD OF WARCRAFT.

anet shouldn't make changes to the game in order to 'compete with wow'

the two games aren't even the same genre, they offer completely different gaming experiences, they shouldn't be 'competing' at all

Yes the 2 games are completely different, this doesnt excuse the fact that most if not all fetures of the pet and minion fuctions can be extreemly improved!!!
I still stand by my pet menu idea ( where u can view its stats and change its stance or attatude )
And yes people are hanging out for a 'COOL' pet!!.. so far there is such little difference in pets that its impossible to have a Unique pet. Why cant the developers chuck in a lets say... Fairy Drake, scarabs, moss spiders, Tigers, Lions, Snakes, Scorpions, Rinos, Golems, Imps, Bulls.. look possiblitys are endless. I just think when it came to pets, the developers were lazy. I go online and see MILLIONS of wolfs and spiders its rediculous and makes me want to close fist punch the programers in the face for being lazy!
Same with the armor in teh game.. YES you can get dye, but come on.. EVERYONE looks the same.. its rediculous, nothing is unique.. I DEMAND UNIQUENESS:P

Sry i havent played WOW before and i agree our game needs to hav UNIQUENESS.

pets/minions expanded and improved? sure, they've even stated that that's one of the planned things for chapter two

but quit complaining about how you aren't 'unique'

you aren't unique in real life, and you aren't unique in the game either, and you never will be

anyways... i don't really care about the addition of more pets... what i do care about are that pets and minions having improved AI and some commands

yeah anet should improve pets but not to the point where its just to compete with WoW

They could be improved a lot, but they won't be. Perhaps a result of stubborn game design, who knows. But, they will not be fixed, only baby-patched for all time.

From the hints they've been dropping, it sounds like pets and possible necro's are going to get enhanced. I have never playes WoW but I would like to see more with doing a primarily "pet" ranger build with more options.

I bet I could make you all hate me with one statement.

"OMG, we should be able to ride our pets! That would be just like what people do in WoW!"



But seriously. A pet doesn't really need upped.

Consider the following - (jesus christ, is this Bill Nye now?)
A pet, with 16 beast mastery, can do 17-32 damage. *I think so, I didn't test it*
A bow can do 15-28 unmodded and without skills.

You see, the pet has the higher damage. In addition, it also has several abilites. Consider a pet an investment on your skill bar. You put enough skills on and you WILL get what you paid for. Put maybe 3, you'll complain on GWG because all you can do is charm, revive, and heal animals. Put on 7, and you'll be happy because you can add damage, distract, annoy, and do all sorts of crap IN ADDITION to attacking with a bow WHICH, if you have enough marksmanship(or a low req bow), CAN add another 15-28 damage. For a total for 32-60 damage per hit. See? Pets are GOOD ENOUGH if you just invest in them.

That said, I'm going back to my shortbow barrage ranger.

we're talking about how our control over our pets is terrible and the AI of the pets is a joke

im all for the charm animal and comfort animal being the same button, that would make sense, and hopefulyy since they said they are gonna be putting things to change your characters appearance, they will do that for the pets too, that would be cool

And kakumi your oviously a person that has given up and accepted his/her place in life, that youll never be special like your mum always told you that you where. Its a known fact that this game needs more options for uniqueness!
Anyway my main point was infact the lack of control of your pet, why i came up with the pet interface idea and own skill bar ideas.
No one will bother investing in runes and/or skill points to get to 16 beast mastery where its better spent on improving your marksmanship or what not.
Compete with WoW?. Hell no, just get the system uup to a higher standed please.

i think he means AI standard. a 4 year old is smarter than the pets and fiends are.

they have said improvements are coming. mounts will never be included in the game.....already said.

having to wait till chapter 2 for an AI buff to pets come on that's BS. they buffed the henches AI which used to be the same as pets are now.

better yet give us a command hotkeys and you won't have to write another AI see simple fix.

Yeh twicky kid hit the nail on the head.. Geez i thought i explained my self better!! I think mounts are a bad idea, although i see some peoples point.. takes a long time to travel places and it would look kool.
Henches are still F-ing weak AI wize too.

Hey I am unique in real life! I have arms instead of ears and I use them to walk, and I can dye any part of my armor, cause I wear armor. Also I have a dog, and I dye him and make him wear armor, and constantly upgrade the menu I have stapled to his back.
