i was wondering how each of the tameable creatures compare to each other in terms of speed, attack, and defense (i think they are the cat, strider, warthog, wolf, and bear).

also, i know that the bear can use the skill Brutal Mauling.. do any of the other pets use a special skill?

The Moa bird and moss spider are tamable too. There have not been any really good comparisons of pet stats -- mostly just observations.

Well I heard from a guy, who knows a guy, who knows some people that the wolf does the most damage and the strider has the fastest rate of attack. This might be wrong tho.

Question is though, do the pets levels catch you up???

Currently I have a level 9 stalker, I am level nine also.

Everyone else I see with differing pets has lower level pets, if I was to tame a wolf that is say 3 levels lower than me, would it stay three levels lower than me??

Well I tamed a melandru stalker that was level 5 when I was only level 3 and it stayed level 5. Then now i'm level 11 and it too is level 11. That sure is something to think about.

Striders turn into Moa's at about level 6, then back to striders at about level 11. I tamed a Strider when I was level 5 and it was level 1. It leveled up to about level 4 while i was still level 5, and from then on it usually levels up not long after I do, remaining more or less the same level as me.

My bf however had a Stalker of level 5 when he was level 5, and it reached level 6 before he did. As long as you take your pet out everytime you go out (I do, my bf does but it usually dies and he doesn't take the comfort animal skill so can#t res it) and mine has stayed with me, whereas his has now dropped a level below him, me and my pet coz it stays dead so much

Thanks for the info, if I see a creature I like, I think I'll try and tame it, in theory at least it should catch me up.

Your pet can not be a higher level than you, this meens, you cannot tame monsters higher level than you.

Regards, Ashleigh.

Wrong. When I got my Stalker it was two levels higher than me. Not to mention for the first level of having it it managed to outlevel me.

I've got a stalker that was probably about level 3 when I tamed it (I was around level 4 or 5; I don't remember for certain). It's now level 9, and I recently became level 10. It always seems to level shortly after I do, and I always take it out with me. It really doesn't die that much either, and the only time I've really had trouble with it dying have been when I've fought groups of five or more Charr (which I try to avoid doing anyway) where it takes a lot of hits and I don't have time to heal it. All in all I'm really happy with my stalker, but it's the only animal I've tamed.

Why are people stating that the moss spider is tameable without trying...? i've tried and it's not tameable.

It's because they're green and friendly. Trust me, I tried and I lost my first Stalker because of it.

I agree, whilst my experience is limited I tameed my stalker when it was level 5 and I was 3.

I gave up my stalker to try to tame a bear...it didn't work. Now I'm post-sear with a Moa, a big chicken that follows me around looking silly. It's very aggressive and helpful in fights, but I wish I had my kitty back.

Mentioned in another thread.

I tamed a stalker in the beginning was lvl 3, tamed lvl 5 stalker. Got it to lvl 7 then dropped it to try and tame a bear. The bears were lvl 3 an i was lvl 7, i couldln't tame them [charm kept being broken], so i assume i need muich higher skills.

Anyway then i charmed a wolf instead. First thing i noticed ALOT more damage! The wolf is like lvl 2 and it did more damage than my lvl 7 stalker [unless i'm seriously dreaming]. Further i don't know if it's the amount of damage that does it, but my wolf actually draws attackers onto him. My stalker almost -never- did this. The result? My stalker never died, and i took all the damage. My wolf actually died twice very soon after i got him after he drew 4 bears onto him.

So dunno if i'm halucinating after a full night of play, but the wolf feels alot more contributing than i thought.

You can find Melandru's Stalkers in post-Sear as well. From Ascalon take a right till you hit the Great Wall, follow it upwards till you reach a gate entrance in the Wall (Gateguard Hollis should be standing right next to it). From there turn left (i.e. moving opposite and away from the gate entrance) and walk back into the wastelands, you have now entered Stalker country.

Also note that you can always get lynxes as well, later on past Lion's Arch.

Somebody said they tamed a Dune Lizard in crystal desert.

I tamed my E/R's stalker at level 2 and it was 5, now she's 11 and the stalker is 10. I really wish there was a pet stat window like in WoW. My pet doesn't really seem to do much but act as extra meat, I don't have much in beast though.
