First i will tell u my build:
- Ether Renewal {E} *
- Aura of Restoration *
- Lightning Orb
- Enervating Charge
- Lightning Strike * i use these with all E/Mo build, earth/air/smite
- Res Signet
- Protective Spirit *
- Reversal of Fortune *
[Defensive Part]
Especially with the air build, I have unlimited energy (i get 60 energy in 10 seconds, then wait 10 seconds and if i need it, i can do it again) also i will be healed by reversal, ether, and aura...
Prot spirit, and reversal are the energy spammers + (and a good +) protection
It is soooo funny seeing a warrior attack u, noticing he cant do me much harm, and after wasting enough time attacking me, deciding to attack someone else (also Elementalists cant do me much harm with prot spirit)
[Offensive Part]
Since i have enough energy, it is just a matter of spamming the air/earth/smite skills...
Follow your targets, with the 25% penetration u deal ALOT dmg to all classes, especially necros/elementalists die really fast.
[Negative Part]
The only problem are some necros with health degen, and strong shutdown mesmers, for the rest, I can hardly be beaten in a 1v1 fight (4v4, but me vs 1, and he vs me). Enchantment removing isnt much of a problem, but they can make me vulnerable indeed, i just have to cast the enchantments again, reversal and prot is no problem, but aura has long recharge.
[Conclusion]
that is up to you.....i think i made my point clear
Any comments?

I prefer to use mesmer as my secondary and arcane echo my lightining orb and then spam it.. with air and ele attunement I lose no mana, and when IO run out of attunements I chose a warrior or a ranger on which I shoot blinding flash and spirit of failure to get a lot of energy back and then recast my attunements.
The above described method can ofcouirse be used if a warrior starts chasing you around as well...

He can't...he needs Rof as one of his quick spamer spells to generate energy and health. The main problem with thi sbuild is that when they made the changes with the last patch they took away the 1 second spam of certain spells....so ER no longer rules like it once did. Not that it's bad now, but it really needs a quick spam to shine, and there is no single quick spam spell anymore.
Ahh how I miss the days of spamming Divine Boon to generate energy so that I could keep launching Lightning Orbs. After all...the whole point of the elementalist is to constantly be casting a spell....if you can't cast....it's not a whole lot of fun.

nah i seriously dont agree with u, first of all, u cant beat all types when they focus on u..mesmers are hardest. But diversion does only 1 SKILL, to diverse ether renewal is about 5% chance, because i cant use it often. Also, when u disable my elite... i am not completely useless...i still got low energy skills to stay casting
When backfire is cast on me, i simply just dont cast LOL, except when i am not under heavy fire, then i can just cast w/o problems (aura, ether, reversal, prot spirit are good defense)
1 interuption, or 2 interuptions, doesnt concern me, because all the skills rule
The only things that can really harm me are: Enchantment removal (it is annoying, and nothing more) and health degeneration sometimes. Shutting down can kill me, but only when focused on me afcourse.
**The recharge time is not very long of all skills. **

Essentially this build has all the glaring flaws it should have.
1) He's casting spells. Spells can be interrupted, use interrupts.
2) He's using enchantments. Enchantments can be removed, remove them.
3) He's using energy. Steal/drain his energy and he can't cast.
So far his weaknesses are typical counterspell weaknesses. But what are his advantages?
1) He can heal himself effecitively and easily when attacked, if not attacked he doesn't need to heal.
2) He has greater conservation of energy, being able to restore his full pool, thus keeping him casting longer.
3) His skills synergize well together, creating a solid and generally self-sufficient build.
4) (everyone's strength) Teammembers to take care of 'counters' to his build.
---(This means, a Warrior to distract that Ranger, a Monk to remove Backfire, a Mesmer to keep that enemy Mesmer busy, a Ranger to take down the Opposing Elementalist, a Necro to debuff, offer extra energy, extra targets, or basically annoy the other team...and himself to deal well with most Warriors and to help kill Monks more quickly.
This is a pretty decent build that generally is a good mix of defensive and offensive ability, ensuring that you can help your team by adding to the pain, or keeping yourself alive to let the monk concentrate on another teammate. Yes, this build works best when the elite is used, but it's obviously not necessary for the overall functioning of the build. And if you can name a build that doesn't work ideally with an elite, I'd be tickled to death to see it.

all the posts saying ranger will own you. of course a ranger will hand any eles arse to them on a platter. Rangers are meant to interrupt casters actions.
you say it as if this makes it crap.
he said that this is good against other eles and warriors. the mesmers and rangers are likely focusing on monks and you teams shutdown character. this build should be fine. unless you come up against a good mesmer who will shatter everything you use.
but once again mesmers are just doing what they are supposed to do in a team. eles are supposed to deal dmg and this build does that while at the same time capable of holding its own against the warriors and such.
