by and large i have no problems with the mods on these forums. I know they do nto have an easy job. However i have noticed a trend that i hope I can bring attention to, and that can be solved pretty easitly.

this is not intended as a flame thread so I ask that all of the responses be well thought out and respectful. that being said here is what I have noticed.

there are some moderators here that have very strong opinions on issues brought up in the forums. In and of itself this is a good thing. However I have also noticed that in certain instances after a few posts disagree with them they give their last post, put in a small flame or 2 then close the topic with the OP not able to either defend himself, nor counter the argument.

I am not going to name names here but people who post here regularly know the mods who do this.

my point here is not to point the finger or place blame but to make this point so it stops.

we all know that we are from different countries use different languages, I find it deplorable that mods here would flame someones grammar and spelling. that is not their job.

Mods are ehre to keep the peace and keep prople on topic, not to be english teachers.

your input would be greatly appreciated. once again please do not flame nor use names of mods you have a problem with, but feel free to post things you have seen so they can be changed.

Over my tenure here, I have found that PMs work wonders with mods.

p.s. and maybe beacuse i said "full stop" and "bull", and i didnt use spellcheck (they just cant help the personal attacks) lol!!

you have to realize that in a forum like this the moderators are normally ultra nerds without any type of social setting outside of the box that sits under their desk. Often times they were picked on as children and had very few friends...fast forward 10 years to the internet....where every ultra nerd is now instantly the coolest kid on the block. Moderators abuse power, they always have and always will....it's unfortunate, but it's part of a forum.

I am a mod on a few other boards (obviously not this one). Rule number one is /always/ if you have an issue with a mod, take it up with that mod, don't start general discussion threads about it. In the same way, if I had a problem with a person, I would talk to them rather than talk about them behind their back.

Starting these sorts of threads shows a basic lack of respect for a moderator. When you sign up for a website, you sign up to be under the control of a mod who is answering to the site owners, not the people bashing you on a thread.

Just my thoughts on the matter...

As for PMs. Not good enough, if one disagrees with a decision... espcially a decision that could easily be interpreted as questionable one should have the right to call that out in the public eye. Just because the power is there, does not make the Gods. Anyone watch Stargate?

I'm suddenly getting the urge to start placing bets as to how long this topic itself shall last. I find though that some people in this world will reject plainly any view other than their own, and that it is a waste of time and resources to even attempt to point that out.

-Diomedes I am a member of many different forums and Mods dont always do thing that the OWNER would do, some i have seen abuse it and it should be taken up with the OWNER not the mod that is personaly attacking you, closing threads etc..., because i very much doubt he will admit being wrong.

I completely agree, i once PM'd a mod almost with that exact same statement.

There really are a few mods here who...to put it nicely, and without stating names, need to start doing a few things outside of these boards

In the case of moderators closing discussions because one side is refusing to see their point of view (hello, ddoogle), I've found that the moderator is, in fact, right. It's not opinion, it's right and wrong. No point keeping a discussion open if it's simply the "right" people throwing facts and numbers at the "wrong" brick wall to no avail.

Last I checked, correct spelling and grammar is a rule at Guild Wars Guru. The moderators are simply enforcing the rules, and making the forums more enjoyable for those of that can type. Run a spellchecker, look up a dictionary... bloody Hell, you're on the Internet! There's no excuse.

If you can't stand the heat, get off the internet.

IMO, There are so many things wrong with ddoogle's argument (ie comparing a specific class combo "war/mo" with a very general weapons mod), many people just roll their eyes and go read the next thread.

ok, so then..the problem is the mods who make some of these rules....for example i remember in the trading forum that one of the mods has like a pet peeve or something for people using the word 'godly', so now all threads with that are closed, even though 'godly' is a lot easier than writing 15>50, perf mods, health +30
