this is why they get nerfed. people bitch and moan that they are too strong. and then some other a-holes farm the whole lot of them! yeah its cool to collect them for yourself or other chars you have. but why exploit it and try to make $ off of them?
people cried that they wanted new items in the expansion, now they are here and people want them gone.

Up to five mods? Oh no! Let's look at something from before the patch, shall we. I kill a couple of jade scarabs for five jade mandibles. I head out to Dunes of Despair, to talk to the collector there for a Smiting Staff. Here's what I get, for the monetary equivalent of 125g:
Smiting Staff (11-22 light damage, +10 energy, 20% chance of fast skill recharge using smiting prayers, 20% chance of fast skill casting using smiting prayers).
That's three mods down. Now I've found an insightful staff head someplace:
Four mods. Now I tack on a staff wrapping of defensive.
<BLINK>Five mods. UBAR GODLY!!!!1</BLINK>
The only problem was that +15% while health >50% swords, axes and hammers were not available from collectors, nor were 20/20 healing staves or 20/20 protection staves, and only shields with stance conditions were available, no while enchanted (or while hexed, but... yeah). I believe they put those in now. Everybody wins.

so if the weapon just says "Recurve Bow" and has Marksmanship 1(20%) are we to assume that it has a Marksmanship Grip...or is it innane meaning we can add another 20% +1 Marksmanship Grip and get a 20/20 stack? or add other grips? or it implied that the weapon has a grip on it and is actually a "Recurve Bow of Marksmanship"?
Green items are max rares with max useful mods, in one package.
You cannot upgrade them with weapon components.
Some of them are very sweet, others are very far from godly.
Depending on their drop rate (and the farming potential of GF/SF), they can be either as valuable as current perfect rares, or they could convert all non-green items into merchant junk. It's a little early to tell, but so far I haven't seen an insane amount of green items to replace my non-perfect rares and my upgraded collector items.

Given the number of chests which drop gold & purple items, I'd say it's a safe bet that anything other than a small subset of green and a miniscule subset of gold items are now merchant junk. You can also safely assume that the GF/SF bosses can and will be farmed.
ANet's added a massive gold sink with these keys. What I wonder is how we're supposed to make any money now? Chest farming is a losing proposition, as the items in the chests are worth less than the key, and judging by a quick jog in the desert monsters hardly drop any gold any more.

I doubt they'll be nerfed. ANet obviously put them in there for this exact reason, they aren't stupid.
It makes sense for players to be able to get excellent weapons so that they can focus more on their skill choices than trying to complete with nerds that play thousands of hours or go buy gold on ebay.

You cry out for a nerf on possibly the best items in the game? Why?!!
What's stopping you from trying to get a green item?
Begging your pardon but i thought we were all on the same playing field and everyone has the same % chance to get X or Y.
Every boss in SF/GF drops one eh? Wrong.
Besides, the majority of players wanted unique items...i doubt they will be removed.

There's no reason to remove the green items.
However, the problem now is, how do I make tons of money??? And, what the heck do I do with my rubies and sapphires??? HAR!
Anyway, I like the green Items, mostly because there's "The Yakslapper," which may as well be called "Weapon ANet Made For Sciros" as far as I'm concerned, but really they're a great addition. I mean, a perfect Fellblade is still no worse than these green items, and probably better since it's a BIG BLACK SLAB OF STEEL, and I actually had 2 necro staffs (collector's with perfect Insightful and Fortitude mods) I got for 45k and 50k each that were NO WORSE AT ALL than the new green items (I sold them for 180k total ^_^ a while back though).
The cool thing is, now this game is not about the "grind" at all! Get the green items you want b y killing some bosses, beat Sorrow's Furnace with your friends, and then get to working on your PVP build!
ANet is doing a great job of sticking to their own vision, I'd say.

I probably ended up killing bosses over a hundred times last night (I really wanted to see the new Warrior and Mesmer weapons) but the only green I saw drop was Worth's [sic] Icon, which dropped for my friend. But we had 6 henchies, so I'm pretty sure all of them have uber green weapons right now.
Funny thing, the Worth's Icon...wonder when they'll change that. And...Wroth Yakslapper? I'm pretty sure they chose the name because it sounded funny.
