There are alot of people that have been talking about this Skill. They always say something like "Use mantra of frost to convert all the damage into cold damage and then reduce it" .

I remember them mentioning it in a ton of comboes, but now that I read the description I can't remember if it was a combo, or were they talking solely on the 2 part functionality of the skill (convert to cold, reduce damage)

What people mean is this combos well with two Ranger spirits: Winter and Greater Conflagration.

Winter converts all elemental damage into cold damage, thus making Mantra of Frost reduce damange and give you energy from any elemental attack.

Greater Conflagration converts all physical damage into fire damage.

GC + Winter + MoF = protection and energy from all physical and elemental attack until the spirits or your stance end.

the gc/winter/mof combo died with spirit nerf. i have never seen this combo since pre nerf days.

Why is it that every decent build is no longer used at all when something gets 'nerfed'? Have you ever decided to think outside the bat?

Why would you throw in greater conflagaration in there if it converts to fire damage? (assuming you don't have mantra of flame equipped). Either that, or i'm assuming the person is equipping a full set of armor that is resistant to fire.

So now the mantra of frost combo comes to light. I see.

Greater Conflag converts all physical to Fire
Winter converts all elemental to Cold
