Thoughts on SUMMER UPDATE release date

seeing that Anet has released an update of this kind so soon after its initial release I think they are doing a good job. But I cant wait till chapter 2 because they said they want to increase character slots on accounts and bring in new classes to play as. SWEET!

sigh.... i go back to school on the 7th... lol

1. For me yes. I have been waiting for the update for the last 10 weeks. Having played the game through Alpha/Beta I was one of the first to complete the game in the Ring of Fire. Not being a big PVP fan of the game the PVE update couldnt come soon enought. Having lvled 4 lvl 20+ Chars now I am really looking forward to the update. I just hope its to the lvl of UW/FIS in difficulty. I will be really pissed off if I can complete all the quests in a Weekend.

2. I just hope not having released it too early that they have gotten it right. Taking it into account that its for lvl20 ascended players there should be maximum difficulty that can not be done with solo players. Bring us back to Guild/Team Wars not Solo Builds.

3. Yes Im very much bothered. Its a great game and it does have longevity if the game's difficulty level is there. This update will have to keep the PVE player's occupied till Early 2006 6 6 Month's

I wish they would release it september 2 for the long weekend so we can stay up for three days straight and fry my brain on GW for 3 days

do you have to be at lvl 20 before purchasing?

for the sept 7th update there is no purchasing it will download to you. and you can access the new area's after you ascend.

Yep -- I agree. Sure, earlier would have been nice, but everything has been above board as far as I'm concerned.

No deception? The technical meaning of the term "summer" is NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER how it is used colloquially, EVER. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard it used technically except when astronomy geeks talk about astronomy stuff. And even then, most often they just use the term "autumnal equinox" so there won't be any confusion.

Of course, no one has any reason to complain about it coming out later, because, well, it's free . And I'd much rather see a polished product later, than a half-assed one now. It's just that its definitely simple to see why people thought it would come sooner.

it only is a nice bit of extra for a good game and who knows if they may give us a few more surprises later.

no monthly fee means it DOES NOT have to keep us interested until chapter 2 comes out.

in a few months OBLIVION (ELDER SCROLLS 4) comes out and then i will be playing that until chapter 2 comes out.

you can put it down and come back but EQ, WOW you HAVE to play constantly or you are losing your monthly payment

Lets see, I define summer by 4 things.

1) is it still hot out? Check!
2) has thanksgiving (Canadian) occured yes? Nope
3) has my birthday occured yet? Nope
and while is was in school
4) have I had any form of exam that counts for more than 5% of my grade yet? Nope


Therefore by my definition of Summer, Sept 7th is still it.

Now to keep on track for the thread

Not at all

Always, would hate to see a rushed buggy release, those happen often enough and if it's bad enough, can kill a game.

Ok, so retail expansion packs are approximately every 6 months? Chapter 2 being the first one right, early next year. Are we to expect a small free expansion in between at 3 month intervals, Sorrows Furance being the first of those? Are we looking at;

September - Sorrows Furance
January - Chapter 2
April - free update
July - Chapter 3

Is that how it works>?

Sigh....It is still Summer....I'm tired of people who define summer as when school is off. Most of you probably get out of school in the Spring. Like someone posted before, scientifically the summer ends Sept. 22nd.

Personally, I can wait even longer for the update. I wish they would fix the way trading works so we dont have to spam the trade channel. This is just more stuff to do, it doesn't help me in anyway other than waste more of my time trying to sell stuff!

LOL - Colloquial summertime? So you want Arenanet to announce that the summer update will be out when you and your mates have decided down the pub what summer means. :-)

Summer ends on 22 Sept, always has, always will. No deception, unless it comes out on Sept 23 delayed.

No, I *wanted* the summer update to be out by at least the end of "summer," such that "summer" means that which the majority of people think of when referring to the term "summer." Use a dictionary. Thanks.

to answer the original questions:

1) I don't think it's taken too long to arrive. I'm actually kinda happy that they'd add more content for us. Can't wait too long for that.

2) Yep. Simple answer, I know, but things almost always turn out better if it's not a rush job.

3) "OH NOES! THEY TAKE TOO LONG TO UPDATE, NOW I GO PLAY WOW AND CITY OF HEROES!!!11!!1onetwo" Yeah, it's nifty and I'll give it a try, but I'm much more interested in the Expansion.
