If Dev's Nerf 105/85/55 Monk build will you continue to play Guild Wars?

They are not going to nerf it.

What is it against the monks? Why do you want them nerfed? Prot Bond is just 1 skill that enables you to solo a specific area. There are ways to solo with other skills, if they nerf prot bond it is a slippery slope. ANET is not out to nerf farmers, they changed other areas because of botters. Money gained per time spent, the UW is clearly not the best. If you think it is you either: can't farm anywhere past the breach or get your builds off of forums and cannot think for yourself.

Stop advertising your stupidity with "OMGZORZ IT IS RUINING THE ECONOMY". Stop bitching and moaning over and over and over again. Just play the game as it is. Want stupid spiky armor taht costs 1 mill+? Work for it in game or go mow lawns for like 2 days and ebay the gold. ANET has seen your complaints stop polluting the forums. Gaile has even said before, we see your complaints, no need to repeat them over and over (something to that effect)

ive defeated the game 4 times and Soloing UW is the ONLY Thing i find fun anymore, yes i mean seem snotty and "omg find something else to do" but the point is nothing else really excites me anymore :$

This is why people should keep good builds to themselves...someone is always there to scream "nerf" because someone is actually doing something that took a little thought.

everyone who says it doesnt matter if they nerf it just dont have a solo monk so they dont care soloing uw is the only chalange left on the game since we all have 4 lvl 20 and full 15k on all of them

as much as i dislike nerfs, if they were to nerf the 105/55 monks I most certainly would keep play GW. That sort of farming in no way affects how I play the game and even tho I use the build occasionally to skill point farm I would not care in the slightess if it was no longer viable

Before 105 Monk: I want FoW armor because...well, I do. I have beaten the game with a couple characters and I get 1-2 runs in a night with a 5-man smite run team. Ecto drops as a whole have been lowered so I average about 1-3 ecto a week. Warrior armor runs you 105 ecto, so I was looking at a best case scenario 30 weeks of 5-man smite run to get ecto. The other option was to buy ecto @ 10K per. So I farm griffons with my warrior and make about 20K per hour. This is the average with gold drops, the occasionaly drop worth 50K, but it gets old really quick and, well, the rockshots can ruin it and the griffons drops start to suck, so the idea gets boring quick. So I can handle an hour of farming maybe and I can afford 2 ecto and this will lead to enough ecto within 6-8 weeks.


After 105 Monk: As soon as I see the idea of a 2-3 man smite run I start a Mo/W and run him through ascension and level 20 as fast as possible and about 5 days after the solo build comes out I can hit the UW solo. After about 10 runs I am finally able to get to the smites consistently and kill them. Since then, I have accumlated 50 ecto and 1 gold eternal shield of crappiness that I sold for 20K to a PvPer who just wanted one. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and I may be able to get FoW armor.

If you want to buy the materials for FoW armor you are looking at 1600K. How are you supposed to get his without farming? You can't and this build provides a way to knock 1050K off the price tag by investing time soloing the UW. I was jealous when I saw E/Mo or E/R farming Ettins, but I wasn't complaining that they should stop them from farming. I chose to make a Mo/W so I could solo UW, and you can too. You can't solo the entire UW, just a small part, and it gets boring really quick.

If devs nerf it. not why it is right or wrong...

Of course I'll continue to play. I'll be forced to spend far too much of my life with ignorant fools again in order to complete my goal of FoW armor for my Mesmer, but I will endure.

To answer the OP's question: I'm not entirely sure. My guess is yes, I probably will continue to play immediately after the nerf (and I have no illusions that there will not be a nerf). It would be a significant blow to my interest in the game, however, and I would not be at all surprised if it heralded the beginning of my drift from GW.

Certainly removing the ability for me to jump into the game and find a challenge that I can attempt to tackle on my own would really sting. Yesterday, for instance, I began trying to take on Dead Threshers in the UW. My current build can't swing it, but I have an idea for one that might be able to. Unfortunately, with the pending nerf I may never get the chance to see if I can do this or not. It's frustrating to have the rug pulled out from under you when you're just trying to creatively enjoy a game without griefing anyone else.

I'm also hoping that a nerf to the solo build doesn't come without an explanation from ANet as to why it was necessary. I'm certainly willing to listen to their line of reasoning, but if the nerf arrives with nothing more than a bullet line on the GW updates page I'm going to be taking that as a sign that ANet can be bullied into making sweeping game alterations by a vocal minority. If that's going to be the case, I would be left doubting the future of the game and my place in it. I'd much rather ANet had their own clear vision for how the game is supposed to be played rather than letting loud community members dictate those terms to them.

And to continue with your point(and the absurdity of ppl) I want Eles that use Meteor Shower/Firestorm or chain lightning/lightning orb nerfed, I want any warrior that uses a weapon nerfed, I want all mesmer skills nerfed, and lets not forget necros I want them to nerf their men in speedos look.

FFS ppl quit bitching about one build. Soloing Monks didnt destroy the economy it's the FADS that did. All of a damn sudden everyone wanted FoW armor so ecto and shards went to insane prices, you dont here ppl bitchin about bolts of cloth or even other rare crafting mats like fur or leather remember those are supposed to be rare as well.

Well hey since everyone hates nerfs, lets make this game entirely ridiculous. Spread the love...EVERYONE can use enchants to make themself essentially invulnerable and solo whereever the hell they want!!!! YEAH MAN WOO HOO FREE GOLD...Uberness for all!!!
