wtf ? My stuff just disappeared !?

ok, i just had a really strange thing here. I was outside aguary rock to kill some of the hydras. Surprisingly they dropped not that bad - 4 purple items. The first one was a hammer 19-35 which i identified immidiatly. Then they dropped a storm symbol, a hand axe (6-28) and another hammer - all purple as said. I picked them up and traveled back to town to get another ident kit, but guess what ? all the stuff i just collected was gone ? I´m not sure if the money I picked up was gone too, coz I don´t know how much I had before. What is that ? ANets newest nerfage ? lower drops,but even if you take em, they will be removed ? A bug ? A feature ? Anyone else had that before ? Thank god, I didnt found a max 15>50 crystaline sword....

That's curious. Did you crash at all before or after the run?

did the hydas fight back or just stand there? this could theoretically be explained by monstrous bad lag. something similar has happened to me once or twice i have seemingly lost the connection but i can still move about. except that this was in a mission and the other members of my team saw my char rooted in place. i'm not sure what would happen if i attacked something in this state. i have no idea what it was that happened... nothing was changing i wasn't even visibly lagging.
so maybe something like this happened to you but ended when you were entering the town meaning that from the servers point of view you had just stood there... maybe... perhaps.........

what happened to me could be the answer because:
1)i could move around apparently normaly
2)i could apparently effect object in my area
3)i could apparently pick stuff up (the sceptre of Orr)
4)i could still see my team moving and talking (asking why i wasn't moving)
5)nothing i did in this state had any effect once i had left it

I had no crash before or after the run - GW never crashed for me. Also there was no lag. I have a pretty good internet connection, and never had lag problems at all. Everything was working fine. I even could ident the first item (I had 1 use left on the ident kit). And the enemies fought back - they tried to roast me :/ They followed as usual, made their meteors and stuff. Well...Twilight Zone may be an explanation ^^

Sounds like the Bermuda Triangle of GW. I've had weirdo lag too but never had that happen. Worse thing that happened to me was two dye dropped of the same mob of Charr and before I could pick them up the game froze me in place with a couple of my skills 'blinking'. I waited 30 secs or so and then it crashed with the err=7 jobby. :/

The other day I was solo fighting a Sand Drake and by the time it was half dead the game froze me and the Drake was just standing there looking around..... I waited over a minute at least. When it unfroze all-of-a-sudden, there was a bright flash, a big boom, a bunch of damage numbers on the screen, the drake was not only dead but even the body was gone and I got a half-decent staff out of it. lol

Glad this lag doesn't happen too often. It would certainly suck if I was to pick up some nice items to have them disappear afterwards...

As for the Hydras outside of Augury... I killed 5 of those guys in a row and got nothing off them. Might have to go back and try again if they actually do drop purple stuffs.

Sounds pretty worrying - all the better reason for me to spread my good stuff evenly between my 3 chars and storage...

did u even pick the items up? or did u just lag out?

Same thing to me, indeed. On the gates of Kryta mission, if one goes off the beaten path to all those undead and their hounds, many simply STAND there.

It might be lag, it might be a glitch in the trading system for that area, I have lost items in Lornar's before at the trade window, like when I used to play DOOM on my old pc, and would clip walls, and walk through them into nothingness, it seems items are doing the same thing.

I suggest you screenshot your drops, insert the time/date, and send them to a-net IMMEDIATELY after it happens again, like alt-tab out to desktop and send it, they may be able to at least fix the issue, but I am mostly certain your items are irreplacable

Did you check all your bags and belts? I've found things in the bags I forgot I even picked up.

I didn´t took drugs :P And yes, I picked them up (as I already wrote, I idented one of the items. After I picked the other three items, I watched them (I didn´t idented them). Thats why I know the stats for the axe for example. Then I opened the map, double clicked on the auguary rock, and traveled there - thats it. Items were gone as I wanted to id them :/

I had an experience like that. Having returned to Amnoon and salvaged and sold some stuff I got dropped from the game (Guild Wars could not complete the operation or soemthing like it said). I connected again immediately and found I still had all the stuff I sold and salvaged. I even salvaged a sword again and got the other upgrade from it.

I guess that Amnoon district on the game servers crashed rolling me back to the state I was in when I entered it.

Perhaps your instance of the game crashed on the servers but you went back to town before your client noticed the problem.

i think its the old /instanced bug/glitch. ive seen it before, but with my experience the items were somewhere else and they didnt disappear though.

*also yesterday there were a few instances where their were lag/freeze times in the game (more than normal), where everything would stop and in a few secs. come back.

it could be you were caught in the middle of it while you were farming.

ok,I repeat: I had no lags - not even a little - all went smooth. But I just noticed something else: my id kit is there again :P Seems like I rolled back :| Oh, btw. My other pockets are full of stuff like ecto, wood, steel and that stuff. So the 4 purple items could not be there (I checked that just to be sure tho).

I'd report it. Write down all the steps you did so they can try and reproduce it. You may be SOL but atleast if it is a bug they can try to pinpoint it, fix it and maybe it won't happen to you or anyone else again.

I´m tryin to reproduce it now. It would be usefull to know when the game saves. Maybe it has something to do with picking up & entering a town at the same time (when u click 3 items to pickup, your char will take one after another). Maybe thats it. But maybe it was just a very rare glitch which is not reproduceable.

Yes, that's what the peeps at GW are paid to do. Personally I'd wouldn't lose out the time or take the chance of losing something. If they can reproduce it, they can pinpoint the problem and fix it.

They migh also be able to check the logs and get your shiznit back
But the longer you wait the less of a chance you'll have of that
