Little help with Faction please

So, when I read the first update notice about faction I read it to mean faction would unlock items for PvP only. I then stopped playing for a while because the game was getting a bit tedious, but I've started again and there seem to be guys to buy stuff from for Faction in PvE towns. Is this stuff used on PvE characters or PvP characters? Also, those of you who have unlocked some stuff with Faction, how long does it take to be able to unlock anything good?

The priests to unlock with faction ARE in the PvE areas, but it only unlocks the skill, weapon upgrade or rune for PvP.

As far as time, depends on the player, how much they play, how much faction they earn and what you want to unlock.
An elite skill will take longer to unlock with faction than a minor rune, for example.

damn. I was really excited for a sec that I could unlock stuff for PvE.
