Double Damage to target.

+9 damage to target.

Well cyclone axe just hits everyone once with a +10 dmg and only 1 critical chance per hit, while 100 blades hits everything twice with TWO critical chances per hit. So in the long term 100 blades will do a lot more damage than cyclone axe because of the critical chances.

um, the recharge is also double, and it doesn't do double damage. It just swings twice.

In other words, you hit twice and armor is counted twice. When you use cyclone axe armor is counted once.

100 Blades: 8 recharge

Cyclone axe: 4 recharge

100 Blades: hits adjacent and target

Cyclone axe: hits all around you

swinging twice basicly means double damage, even moreso if u can land critical hits on both. 100 blades is just more convienent in the general use. cyclone axe is useless if ur 1on1. against 1-3 foes then 100 blades will still hit them all twice but it does have the 8 second recharge. this is when cyclone axe is supperior. you can swing it twice in the same amount of time and each of it comes with +damage. so hundred blades is for.....people who use swords. duh.

how about the armor penetration 10/10 will it work on cyclone axe?

Let's not leave out that axe has a low of 6 dmg while sword has a low of 15 dmg. This makes all the difference between the two when their lows come up. Vs their highs of 22 and 28, only a 6pt difference in the highs, but, a 9pt difference in the lows. Also the "spread" of the damage from 6 to 28 is a lot futher apart than 15 to 22, a whole 22 spread for an axe vs only a 7 spread for a sword. So in 100 blows as in 100 blades, the sword would do more damage output in the longterm than the axe and cyclone axe.

This sounds like a discussion that should be in The Riverside Inn forum.

I'm a sword user, I'm jsut wondering why sword users get shafted by having Hundred blades as an elite... it means I can't use other skills, say "Flourish" for example.

then dont use hundred blades. i agree you got shafted when it became an elite, but i guess it was just to good before it was an elite....or the IWers went crazy with it

To prevent people from using it and Illusionary Weaponry at the same time.

In this game, 6-28 does more damage than 15-22. Also 100 blades is an elite skill while cyclone axe is a normal skill. So it's quite obvious that in 100 blows, 100 blades does more damage than cyclone axe.

If you think Cyclone axe is so much better then why don't you switch to it? Most people won't use axes because they don't like the skills that come with the axe.
It's interesting. if you want your sword (Mainly for attacking one target in my opinion) to strike many targets you have to spend an elite (Hundered Blades.)
If you want your axe (Mainly desinged for striking multiple opponents in my Opinion to strike hard on a single target you have to and elite (Cleave.)
I do realise that a huge generalisation but think about it.

And yes this post should be moved.

Hundred Blades was a decent non-elite. It has now been "balanced" into a trash elite, like Healing Hands.

Healing Hands is weak except to W/Mo who actually take less damage than they are healed for, essentially making the character invulnerable and recieve healing at the same time. Cyclone axe sucks except when there are several monsters hitting you, which usually is not the case except in solo farming situations. When there are about 2-3 monsters like the usual situation in PvE parties, hundred blades work better, although I still don't think works good enough to be an elite. I'd much rather have healing hands.

The more I read things like this, the more I wonder: Did you alpha/beta testers not test enchantment stripping at all? Sure IW is a great skill, but strip it off and look who's sucking now... The fix should not have been "nerfing" Hundred Blades, but the improvement of enchantment removal.

CMB, who wishes he could use IW and Hundred Blades together without using 3 skill slots on his bar...
