I think some people are playing the market. Buy up from merchants the same as they have done with ecto and black dye and now with yellow and silver and then sell them to players and with runes
It really funny how GW are working on closing bots down and farming and now they have found another area to exploit that is all there is to it
Another millionaire going broke on ebay
No more Black Dye?

A little off-topic but...
By having ridiculous prices, GW is forcing people to "farm". I can say the same with unlocking items and runes. How can you have a good chance of unlocking a good item if you don't "farm"? Same with people who likes to complete their skills. Sure GW says that you don't need to spend a lot of time to enjoy the game. But for other players, they enjoy the game by completing skills. And how do you complete skills? You "level" by farming/soloing or praying that you get a good party for a trip to UW and FoW.

well, what about if you have silver dye, the trader has none (i just found out *why* there was no silver showing up to buy, thanks guys) and when you offr to sell, you get no responce as to quote for silver?
wouldnt there be a yes please, i need silver! request from the trader?
and i do thing the traders are getting fat off of the seller prices sheesh! 1plt and 132(ish) gold for a bottle of red or blue on euro server todat, and i am offered only 90 gold if i try to sell to her....how many kids does this woman (in ascalon city) think she has to feed lol, that the prices she sells and buys at are fair 0.o
im just glad they dont talk, cause it i hear "we work at such a small margin..." ill just likely kill the woman and be done with it!
(its my bosses fave reply when someone wants stuff cheaper lol)

A little on a side note. I just spent the morning/afternoon starting up a replacement character for my Warrior. She's now at LVL 6 in pre-searing. She's now toting 2 yellow, 1 green, 1 red, and 2 blue dyes!! All from drops! Me thinks there's a plan in this or she's going to be one lucky character for me!

Prices on dyes r going screwy cuase of the new trader system they have set up.
The price goes up every time someone sells to them.
The price goes down if someone buys from them.
But if to many people sell to them than no one wants to buy it anymore.
Thus making the price go way up at some traders.

I cannot believe this I have been puting off getting the black dye due to such high prices. I have only been in the game for about 2 months and only seen the black dye drop twice which of each time I was part of a party group and neither of the dyes were for me. (The luck) first they make it so rare that you cannot hardly find it and then now you cannot even buy it. It is almost to the point to where someone could actually be making physical cash on the selling of this dye, ( hey that's a thought ) hmmmmmmm, well not for me sense I am black dye broke heheheeh. I think that the developers need to make it a little more available and then only charge at most 3 to 4 plat for it. Better for the game economy and for the moral of the gamers. Is there anything that can be done to get more black dyes but back into the game ?

They should quit with all this BS and just make everything a set price.
No supply and demand.. its just like real life where all the insanely rich people have all the money and theres less ways to make a lot of money now, so the poor people who havent been playing for a really long time have difficulty getting a lot of money.
Now of course, it doesnt matter to me.. I've got my drok's armor.. 3 max dmg bows, and im sure ill find some good mods for them. If i have a bunch of money left over.. ill buy some dye or maybe try for the 15k armor (doubtful). But im not going to sweat not having the expensive armor that does the same thing or not being the richest guy in GW.

Once again dying your armor is something that is "optional". It's not necessary to be "competitive" in the PVE or PVP game, so it's a "money sync" just like the Fissure armors/15k armors. Neither are "required" and many people complain enough that there aren't enough money syncs in the game already. Only the "poor" complain about high prices, or the "lazy" who want everything "free and/or cheap".
The "kewl" stuff in the game and the "best" stuff in the game are going to cost you plenty. Yah might as well get ready for it, it's not going to change anytime soon. There's also a little game within the game to be played with the npc merchants and if you are there at the right time and quick enough, you can make a bundle on buying low and selling high with them and players also. It's called "the trading game". If you don't want to play the "trading game" part of GW's, then don't whine when prices are sky high, if you'd stand by the npc merchants and monitor the prices during your "daily playtime", you'd catch some of these items on sale as well and then reap the rewards when the prices go up by selling to other players or back to the npc merchants when on their "rare" occassions they offer a nice buyback price for the items you have stocked up on.

Yeah, he is right. Trading IS a part of the game. Keep in mind its a MMorpg(MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER role-playing game.) Its not just you playing, so prices will fluctuate do to supply and demand.
Ok heres a question to anyone who reads this..
Have you gotten a black dye drop since its dissappeared from the traders? How do we know they didnt just take black dye away permanently?
This is getting worse by the minute.
On another note -
I have a warrior in pre-searing who was lvl 7 before she started doing quests. Ive collected the items and sold them to pre-sear characters for decent prices, and gotten several dye drops. I think I might stick around there for a while.

Supply and demand is a little bizzare at times.
Firstly: A couple of days ago the material trader was selling a 10-pack of steel for around 4 plats (400g per ingot).
The rare material trader (stood right next to him) was offering to buy at 500gp per ingot.
This state didn't last particularly long (once I'd set up a local trade route) but there *is* some money to be made just by keeping half an eye on the prices.
Second: Silver dye - current retail about 8k. Why does the trader only offer me about 150g then? Silver used to retail for about 800g and the trader would offer to buy for about 500g.
Why? It makes *no* sense.
Surely the buy/sell prices should be a simple percentage in the same way that your foreign currency is at the bank?
