yes, if you tame a pet, you can level it up to a maximum of level 20.

Along the way, you can aqquire "call skills", wich can boost your pets damage, health, and armour ect for a temperaly ammount on time.

Most "call skills" are based on your Beast Mastery Level, wich is available on ranger characters, Primary or Secondry.

Hope I helped.

Regards, Ashleigh.

Rangers (primary and secondary) can charm pets (only one at a time) with the Charm Animal skill. If you want to bring your pet into a mission, you have to have this skill equiped.
The pet levels like you and if I remember right, it can't be higher level than you.

Has anyone confirmed the pets becoming "smarter" April BWE? If so, how? I didn't really notice anything, but maybe it was just me.

what everyone said it true, and, Xellos, I mailed support about Pets AI, They said they will be improving there intelligence, so they will no longer trap you, and i was also told they will use there "skills" that they would have as if they were monsters.

is experience split between you and the pet like normal members in a party?

Yes,Your pet gains it's own supply or expierence, say if you just let it kill something by itself, it would gain 50xp.

But, if you help it kill something, you would recieve a little bit less xp than normal, but your pet recieves the same as it would without help.

Do you mean they are CURRENTLY improving it for retail, or do you mean it was ALREADY improved during April BWE? I am confused for that :P because I thought the pets in April BWE were almost the same. Save wolf not being stupid anymore.

Xellos, the pets in April BWE mainly didn't attack unless you explicitly told them to, which made them somewhat safer to use but at the same time had them standing around doing nothing at times. Your call whether you consider that more intelligent or not.

So they made everything else dumber, just to make the wolf a bit smarter. I'm never touching pets at this rate.

I've a pet Moa and found that once I targeted someone and started letting loose some arrows it would them assist in attacking and I also enabled a call skill to assist my pretty pet. My Moa would not attack until I started firing even with an enemies name highlighted, it wasn't until I started to use a skill that it attacked. And I did find that my birdie didn't trap me as often anyway as it did in March BWE. I'm a pet lover at heart so as we all begin anew in the coming days I shall again get me a birdie and level it with me. I do find that when you can't seem to find a group to go out on a mission and you are using henchies that they react the same way, that is they don't attack until you start the fight. And am looking forward to finding the new pet call skills which I couldn't seem to locate in the April BWE.

the thing that really would interest me is an update on which animal's would be tameable, which they didnt include in their newest update article...

example, unless the bear becomes "green" named @ full release...that would be a sweeet surprise.

The pet in april response much quicker than it is in march... that was about the only thing that I noticed. For example, in march the pet would continue to attack one target even after you switch target or it will attack what you are attacking a moment later... in april, the pet would change target the moment that you hit (skill dont count) the new target unless too far away.

Monk henchy had gotten the most increase in my opinion... as it is much harder to kill her just like that during PvP... she run all over the place, to the point that ur projectile can be block thru walls and so on... then again, that wall thing may just be coincidence

The color of a creature's name has nothing at all whatsoever to do with its charmability. All they need to do to make bears tamable is remove its "break charm" skill. You can tame red text animals if they're considered "animals" by the charm animal skill, and don't use some skill to interrupt your charm attempt. You can't tame Prince Rurik, even if his name is green. The color of any creatures name is a reflection of its aggro, which is also utterly unrelated to charmability.

ye. im only referring to what ppl have stated before. that animals that have green names are non-hostile and charmable.

it would be geat if GW said, color names arent important @ the full release, which you can charm even monsters (like WoW)..just imagine.hehe

Yes, and I'm only pointing out that that is false. Many creatures with green names are not charmable, and some creatures with red names are charmable.

You can, if they're creatures of the appropriate type and don't use some skill to interrupt your charm attempt.

unless they add those animals there to be charmable @ full release. i think their not there in pre-sear.

closes to warthogs ar the prize-winning ones, which would be funny if they allow us to steal one from the farmer.
and would a "prize winning" warthog have better tanking def.(hehe)
just so many possibilities @ the full release. i just hope there will be, ive only played the last bwe, and hope not evrything i did there will be all the same for the 2nd run through pre-sear. (at least added content would be nice)

Yes. Only rangers (or part rangers) can obtain pets. To get a pet, you must find a suitable animal. Only certain animals can be "Charmed" using the Charm Animal skill. There include, Lynxes, Moa Birds, Snow Wolves, Melandru's Stalkers, Warthogs, Striders, and probably some we haven't even seen yet. To Charm an animal, just click it and use Charm Animal.

Once your animal is charmed, it will come with you everywhere, but you must have the Charm Animal skill on your skill bar for it to do so. Otherwise, it will disappear until you put the skill back (note: it saves your animal so you don't have to re-charm it every time you unequip charm animal).

Animals level up to 20 just as your character does.

Using special shouts and calls contained in the Beast Mastery attribute, you can "buff" your pet or even make it do special attacks such as Feral Lunge.

To name your pet, type "/namepet _____" (___ = what you want it to be called, of course).

To get rid of a pet, you must find an animal tamer. There is one of these in pre-seared Ascalon (although I'm not sure where) and there is one in Seared Ascalon (in the explorable area known as Old Ascalon next to the gate).
When you get rid of an animal, you get NOTHING in return and your animal is gone forever. So if you've got a level 20 animal you really like, then it's not wise to get rid of it.

There is no difference between charming a level 1 Melandru's Stalker and a level 10 Lynx.
