Here was the response I recieved from Gaile:
I never meant disrespect but my initial reaction was a negative surprise at learning it was something like an emote. I have full confidence in her words and will wait patiently to see the aura for what it is and discuss it in this or other forums.

Dear Chris, Divine Aura was modified as a result of tester input, where they suggested that taking up an inventory slot, and having to equip their aura, was less than convenient. For every person who doesn't like the idea, there is a person who does like the idea. And none of you have even seen it yet. ![]() I suggest that you wait on the petition. We are not going to make a change at this late date, let's be honest, and I feel it's pretty disrespectful to the designers that you would tell them how to do their business when you have not even seen the Divine Aura yet! Hold your opinion at least until you know about what your talking, if you please. If at that time, feel free to make all the petitions you choose. Feedback is always welcome, although I'm hopeful that you'll find the Divine Aura to be quite nice and something of which you can be proud. Thanks for your support of Guild Wars. I would just like to point out that in order to put a value on something you MUST have something to compare it to!
if you were a beta tester for City of Heroes you got.. umm.. nothing, oh we may get a 'badge'
If you bought the collectors edition you got..
a VIP 'badge'
Badges do nothing at all by the way, but are part of a 'gotta collect um all' style of play which people like.
A Slide power.
This also was nothing more than a nice glowy effect around your feet as you travel the city.. it did nothing, and in honesty looks crappy and cheap.
So, compare this to Guildwars....
An Item that.. WHOA, actually DOES something!
and an Aura which... Well, if it does anything more than look crap all the time im looking forward to it
, I like the idea of it doing something with an emote.. hopefully it would make for some interesting screenshots
So in conclusion:
You are already getting FAR more than the industry already regards as acceptable.. so er, show a little appreciation

+45 Health Req 8 strength

Pretty damn dood starter weapon, I've been using it all morning and I'm lovin it. From what I hear the Ithas Bow (EB Games item) is sweet also.

Yeah, I like the preorder items.
Most games would have had it like 7-10 or something.

I just bought the CE and tested the aura in the game. It's not an item, and isn't an emote itself, but it appears whenever you do an emote (e.g. /laugh, /dance, /guitar, /wave). It's not a full-body aura as I had expected, but it appears at your hands. For example, the necromancer has a green poison-looking liquid (like the sludge that comes out of a necropolis in WCIII) around his hands, the mesmer has pink stars, the ranger has fluttering leaves, and the elementalist has a blue energy cloud. I don't know what the other two look like, since I haven't played as them.
The "aura" automatically shows up whenever you do an emote (I think the exception is /sit, where you don't get the aura). This wasn't what I expected, but is still cool, and I must say I'm very satisfied with it.
here're some screenshots:

And yes I realize it's just an item for show. However we were sorta hoping our group who all got the CE, could run into battle with the aura on.
Oh well, here's to gank + /violin
