I almost felt too *yaaaaaaaawwwwnn* to reply, but nevertheless I felt like supporting StandardAI and Gearfire. If you feel offended or by these drawings, take another look at Janet Jackson's tit and start a new "scandal"...

Man, such a fuss about this drawing on a computergame's minimap while thousands of people die of starvation every day, other's step on landmines or engage in new meaningless wars.... some people really should reconsider what matters in life ....

How is it that you -know- what any of us considers important and what matters in life? You have NO idea what anyone here puts into real life and helping the masses that need it.

Places like this, as I'm sure you've surmised, are a diversion from the anxieties of real life. Perhaps, in some small fashion, posting rather meaningless drivel (at least according to you) helps people focus themselves better on what really -does- matter.

LOL, what if they drew female penises? Would it still bother you?

I'm confused, you say the people drawing penises are childish, but you don't want your children to see it.

I use the Automap on the compass to show the recommended route of going around things, but I'm not an idiot who spams white fuzzy lines all over the place and tells them to rush in and circle around... genitalia... :s

I use it mainly to get people past the mission, not to ever "feel good" at all. I only feel good when I kill something hard or complete the mission (e.g. Glint) and after that I just say "thanks" and I move on. That's all there is to it!

Personally, you expressing intolerance to my given right to express my pride for my manhood is offensive to me. My manhood is a beautiful and proud thing, as are its symbolic representations on the minimap. Every four hours I will perform the symbolic drawing ritual as a neccessary act of my religion, wherefore I praise the perfection of the male genitalia. If you take the legal route and persist in your persecution and intolerance of my religion and the right to practice such, then I'll get my lawyers and see you in court.

by the way, I've never ever been in a group where somebody drew a penis on the mini map.. Lucky me, I guess..

Oh for heaven's sake, it's not like there's an overwhelming amount of new stuff to talk about, unless you feel like complaining about farming (or the lack thereof) or droknar runs or some other such trite nonsense that's been talked to death.

So what is it with the minimap?

Is the solution to be, that people who don't like the drawings (which appear to be the majority) leave a team, even if it just one person, drawing unimportant stuff on the map?

Or do we really need colors on the map so the painter at least can be identifyed and tried to be reasoned with?

Don't you mean "how dare anything in this game be an erect structure?" =P I'm totally 10, although I do not grace my guildwars radar with my drawing prowess and reserve it for strategy.

Quite honestly, brutally, and frankly, if we're in the middle of a mission and someone starts drawing stuff on the minimap, and you get pissed off and leave, you're going to be the jerk in my book, for abandoning the team and wasting everyone's time for the first half of the mission or more.

No, just put your foot down and remark that it interferes with the mission or that it's just plain bloody annoying. If he still doesn't stop, just ignore him, finish the mission, and quit, because you know, that's how a grownup handles things like that. I've honestly never met anyone who didn't stop doing it after I slammed my hammer down and told them quite frankly that they were being an annoying moron and if they wanted to get the mission done, well, we're going to need the minimap.

well ive never seen anyone really leave a party for it, infact most of the time other people join in... (i never thought it was possible, but ive seen like 5 "drawing" on the minimap at the same time) i normaly just sigh and move on with the mission... but if its random scribbles during when someone is drawing a plan, i normaly say "one at a time"... i try to keep my cool when i play but what people dont see is that many stress balls i break by the end of the mission... i cant see anyone leaving a team because of some lamer trying to get a laugh

Yeah, I mean, you can taut the fact that such drawings are immature, stupid, disgusting, whatever, but you're being equally radical and immature if you do something as drastic as *leave* a group for it. Be a grown up, or at least, pretend to be one. You know what grown ups do? I'll tell you what grown ups do. Grown ups think "Wow, he's a bloody wanker, let me tell him to stop doing that," and the grown up would carry out his thoughts. If the bloody wanker still doesn't stop, then the grown up will start weighing his options. "Hmm, is it really worth it to waste my time and piss off six other people in my team by leaving the party just to spite this one idiot over the internet whom I don't even know and probably will never see again after this mission?" After cheerfully saying outloud, "Nope!", the grown up will happily ignore the wanker, finish the mission, say "gj, nice work, except for Mr. Toulousse Lautrec", and be on his merry way.

That's what I think, but I've seen it happen, and it's what some other poster in this thread said s/he did in the past.

People leave missions/quests for all kinds of reasons. Esp. if the team has difficulties working together at first. Or one team member dies and believes that, with a DP of 15, the mission can't be completed.

That's why I still think, there should be a means to identify the painter.
