Hi, I got the Prima Guide for GW a while ago, and having another read through it today I came accross something that I had totally missed before.

Within the Salvage section of the guide, it lists all the weapons and what can be salvaged from those weapons. Within these lists are a few weapons that I personally have never seen or heard of.

the question is, Has Anet mis-informed the Prima Guide ppl, or are these weapons hidden DEEP within the game somewhere? perhaps they made an error in the drop code preventing these weapons being dropped, or maybe they pulled them out at the last moment in order to add them into the expansions later. who knows.

anyway for those of you WITHOUT the prima guide, here are the weapons in the list that I have never seen or heard of :

AXES :

Greater Summit Axe
Titans Axe

HAMMERS :

Edron Hammer
Greater Summit Hammer

SWORD :

Crusaders Sword
Canthan Blade
Canthan Machette
Canthan Saber
Canthan Short Sword
Rekki Blade
Sephis Sword
Shadow Blade
Wyvern Blade

FOCUS ITEMS :

Dwarven Cesta

STAFFS :

Ghostly Staff * has been seen *
Wrathful Staff

SHIELDS :

Bladed Buckler
Shield of the Dead
Spider Shield
Spiked Targe

If you've seen any of these could you tell me please?

anyone else have any thoughts as to why these are in the Prima Guide but seem to be missing from the game?

for all of you who say Prima simply got it wrong, just remember that Arena Net states (on the login screen infact) that the Development team worked in "Close Collaboration" with the Prima Guide people.
this is the reason I started this thread, if it wasnt so highly advertised by Anet I would have just shrugged it off as yet another mis-informed game-guide

Well, I have heard of the Ghostly Staff, but never seen it. There is a sephis AXE, but I have never heard of a sephis sword. I have never heard nor seen of any of the others.

From all I have heard on this forum, I come to the conclusion that the Prima Guide is not a very good guide at all, as it seems that it is very outdated and has some things that have never been seen in the game, such as these weapons.

Personally, I would rather use this forum as a Strategy guide, rather than an acual book type guide, as this forum updates pretty often, unlike books, and there are many points of views to get the maximum help.

Maybe they ARE there but just not in any of the drop tables yet in anticipation of the 2 new area's, maybe the expansion, or some new cool stuff for future patches.

LOL! Can't make the Prima Guide the bible for GW. A lot of the material contained in it is months old and such. I'm sure that between publishing dates and the necessity of material collection AND the constant changed made by AN, it was virtually impossible to get it all right from the start.

I just used the Prima guide for the maps when I was new, as a quick reference for skills, and now as a skills checklist.

true, but still, its not like weapons are something you can create and add in a game in a few minutes. plus the prima guide came out a while after release, so I don't think its beta information.

I think the best explenation so far is that these weapons are actually contained within the game installation in anticipation for the free expansion due out soonish.
if this were to be true, the main reason I could see prima adding these to there guide is not because they were told these would be coming out with the next expansion, but a slight error on Anets part. perhaps the dev team simply printed out a huge information sheet with stats/info taken directly out of the game itself. and these little bits slipped through.

although I will say that should the expansion come out, and these weapons suddenly become available, I would be a little disapointed. why? because that means that these weapons were created quite a while ago, and are not really "new" content. and therefore would not have been effected by the many comments etc that have been made over the months on the current weapons.

but anyway, thats WAY of track

Some of the dwarven stuff could be in one of the new areas. Afterall, Anet is doing the Brand the Boss contest so we know that there will be more dwarves to fight.

Or they could just be REALLY rare. I didn't know about the Crystalline Sword until about two months into gameplay and I still haven't had one drop for me let alone a lot of other items. To have that many names not appear in the game... I dunno, seems odd.

I don't suppose it had graphics for any of them did it?

no, these are from the salvage page. basically it lists all items/weapons/armor/shields etc and what expert salvage you can get from them. very handy. and quite acurate (for those items that exist of course LOL)

I remember reading that the shadow swords were in the beta but they took them out before release. As far as the rest of it not for sure but i have seen the ghostly staff before.

The shadow swords were taken out, that's for sure. Although these may just be weird names for normal looking blades. For example: I saw someone advertising a plasma blade (PLASMA!?). I took a little peek only to find out that it looks like a forked sword. Similar story with spathas. I think I've seen a wywern blade a long time ago, I think it looks like a wingblade/butterfly sword. The titan axe, I think was shot out last minute, probably in favor of the chaos axe.

I have seen a Ghostly Staff before, and I think Dwarven Cesta looks somewhat familiar, but I could just be confusing it with the many other cestas(seeing as the drop so often). Other than that I have never heard of the others.

There is a chance that some of those weapons are renamed in the final game codes. I'm not surprised if shadow blade was later renamed fellblade...

Heh, it's not like you can just run down to the local kinkos and publish a book intended for 100's of 1000's of people in an afternoon. There's a lot of work involved after you get the information for the book and judging from the book since I own it, much of their stuff came from the betas. Things have changed a bit amd not everything is uptodate in the book.

If you've ever played FFXI, you'd know why "official" guides aren't always what they are cracked up to be... (I hate you Brady...)

I *know* I've seen Titan's Armor in the very last mission, but can't say I remember seeing any Titan's Axes. I think titans use swords for their skills, though.
