new race idea

I dont think there should be a fully new race in the game unless they add a significant land mass. instead I would like to see dwarves a playable race. also what might be cool would be half races, like half charr or some kind of half drake race (not sure about that one)

Well, considering there will be new land masses in the expansions, there will be more races. I think that Dwarves will probably be a new race, unless Anet wants to go off the beaten path.

I still dream of having a ninja race....call em shinobis or somthing. but they can deal in poision and traps like a ranger yet fight well like a warrior and need stealth magic.....a spell that makes your circle in the radar smaller for a bit so you can walk by un-noticed! and in PvP you will disappear from radar for a time period!

If you're adding ninjas to the game, you'd might as well add pirates to the game as well. Because everyone knows Pirates own Ninjas....

Akilles, I think you're thinking of a new class, in which that sounds like a Ranger/Necro. We're taking about new races. I don't think they should ever add new classes.

BTW, about Races, I think new races is a great idea. I think it should be there simply for looking different, it shouldn't affect stats, or it'll become like FFXI where you won't be effective unless you're X race and Z class.

I think that Charr should definetly not be a race, or any race that has conflict in the plot of the humans (Charr, Mursatt, etc) but some normal races you can find in PVP should be included.

I think the new races should include Dwarves and Caromi, those are definetly two good races. I can't think of anything else, though, and there should be at least 4. And I don't think Goblins would work..

Dwarves would be crazy.. a little midget tank kicking some ass.

And Charr and like a dwarve mixed would be so damn scary!

I have a feeling we will see elves in the game soon. Seriously, every game that has had Dwarfs has had elves. It's part of the whole " old alliances" thing with the Humans and Dwarfs. Who else do you think is allied with the Humans and Dwarfs?

Well Rangers are like elves right? what would you make elves.. a better ranger or something?

Yeah, I always sort of assumed playable dwarves are coming. I'd prefer if the differences in race were purely cosmetic, however, as different races would be hard to balance.
Hmm. With new races, some dialogue in the game might need to be rewritten. I think some of the villians have cheesy lines like "pathetic humans!" or "die insolent humans!" or something similar.

I think dwarves are the most likely to be the next playable race. All of the magic-wielding races of Tyria are in conflict with each other, but out of all of them, the dwarves are the only friendly ones with humans. I don't really imagine being able to play as a race in conflict with the humans... but who knows.

About the elves, I don't really picture them coming into the game, as I always pictured the extinct druid race to be like elves. But who knows, maybe they're secretly hiding somewhere in the Maguuma jungle. Actually, for most of the races, this applies as well. Since we can't predict what the expansion storyline(s) will be, we really don't have any kind of hold over what new races will be playable.

Eh, I don't think Elves are such a good idea, they're like humans but with pointy ears..too similar to humans

Well if they made dwarf the next race, then the dwarves might have to have a different story line, therefore if you're a dwarf and your buddy is a human, y'all can't help eachother out on PvE because yall don't have access to the same areas, almost like different servers.

Wow, wouldn't that be a sight to behold. Imagine a campaign for three different races - one for dwarf, human, and something else. Then some point in each, each one of them mingles and you fight together. Or maybe they could add new human missions, such as for the white mantle and maybe bring the Orrians into the game.
