sundering long bow for pvp

Q
The reason all you guys use recurve, is that because you all use Barrage?
Because if you don't (heck, even if you do), seriously try out a flatbow instead. Longer range and much faster firing rate more than make up for the innate 10% sundering. Add Read The Wind and you have the same speed on the arrows and the same low arc too.

you should really only be using a Flatbow if you are using RtW or Fav. Winds... if your not... don't expect to hit anything unless they are stationary targets
My favourite bow model of all time has to be...
But alas, a cruel twist of fate would have it be a Horn Bow, probably the most useless bow-type of all. Tarnok's Recurve Bow was just a slap in the face... sundering/enchant(ed/ing)...
**************** Dirty lies *********************
Apparently they're good for spiking, but I'm not entirely sure.
I know for a fact that Quick Shot and Needling Shot's cast times are actually based on your attack speed. The static '1 second' cast time listed on the skills seems to mean 100% of your attack speed. It's the same for the 1/2 second cast time spells of Warriors, such as Protector's Strike and Savage Slash, they're also based on your attack speed. Their '1/2 second' cast time seems to mean 200% of your attack speed.
So, if a Ranger's interrupts are effected in the same way... I'm wondering if a Horn Bow's slower attack speed is actually hurting the spike more than the 10% AP is helping.

If you are playing a Ranger for spiking, yes, a Hornbow is best to use. The extra, base 10% armour penetration is very helpful in a spike or when just dealing damage. Other than that, other bows are better.
I also just tested Quickshot on the Isle of the Nameless with a recurve bow, short bow, long bow and horn bow, and you are wrong. The Hornbow fires a Quickshot just as fast as a shortbow does, same as interrupts such as Punishing shot, which is used in spiking. So yes, if spiking, a Hornbow is best. As soon as Quickshot is ready to fire again, the bowtype makes no difference, it still fires in 1 second and has a 1 second recharge. You might have gotten confused with the aftercast added to Ranger interrupts.

Edit:
Eww, the voices lied to me. ¬_¬
Only the IAS stance seems to have an effect.

Well, having a ranger, I know my bows
Personally, I think they're the most expensive class to spend for weapons...being that they're usually only PARTLY marksman, not completely.
Favourite Longbow Skins: Storm Bow, Zodiac, Platinum, and the unique Urgoz's Longbow (Matches the colour of my armor ^^)
Favourite Recurve Skins: Dead Bow, Eternal Bow (Gee, there really aren't much, but the recurve is the 133754uc3 bow ^^)
Favourite Hornbow Skins: Mursaat, Dragon (dyed black!), Ivory (The contrast against black or darker armor is awesome ^^)
Favourite Shortbow Skins: er...I don't really have any shortbows -_- but if i did, Half Moon
And remember...if i say it's popular, it's popular xD j/k...(but seriously...kinda true xD)

I use the following:
Crippling Zodiac Bow of fortitude 15%Enchanted (to carry)
Vampiric Ironwing Longbow of Fortitude 15^50 (general Use)
Silencing Recurve Bow of Fortitude 15^50 (Interrupt)
Vampiric Shortbow Of Defence 15%Stance (to use while in a stance and being hit at close range)
I simply use the zodiac for the look while not in combat to prevent death by my vamp.
