WTS and WTB lines are now automatically funelled to the trade chat....

Wow genius! Of course people are now using " W T S " etc to get around this.

Is this the trade update we've been waiting over a year for?

Come on Anet - we're tired of asking the same question....
We've waited (not patiently agreed) for ages for something to actually happen....

Judging by all the posts about the lingering needed updates recently on this forum many people are getting very impatient as they believed that soon after factions release there would be improvements to trading/group forming....

I'm "working on" becoming supreme ruler of the galaxy ..... will it ever happen - I doubt it.

just because they believed they would get it nowwwww doesnt make it a realistic belief.

How do you propose they stop ALL trade chat from being entered into the public chat channel?

Here's my proposal:
Block WTB/WTS
Block the letters W, T, B and S
Block all numbers
Block all item names
BLOCK TRADING.

Ridiculous. I, for the first time ever, shall now stand up for ANet. They tried, and of course, they miserably failed, but there's not really any simple solution to the trade problem, besides making an "auction/trade/bargain house" (or whatever you want to call it) and a "group forming channel" and even then, people will complain about this and that. I dont mind the trading channels or public channels being "spammed" (I hate to call it spam, as selling stuff is important, thus not spam, etc., but whatever) because it's part of the game, it's part of making money, being successful, enjoying the game to the fullest, and so on and I also know people who don't mind it either. ANet gave us the option to turn trade and public chat on or off, much like people that complain about foul language have the toggles and chat filter there for them. Use them.

I think I've never sold anything simply because I try to use the Trade channel for it. Sad. I pine for an Auction House. I'm not bold enough to be a real seller.

It's gotten to the stage where my characters are so loaded down with good stuff that I can't sell for a very reasonable price quickly that it actually discourages me from playing them....

Sad - but I'm not willing to spend 2 hours spamming WTS in various cities/districts to sell something. That's NOT playing the game.

I need a place where I can put stuff and make it available for anyone to bid/buy (in game across all cities/districts) - just a "fire and forget" attitude and let things sell themselves.

At this stage I believe Anet is not improving the trade system for marketing reasons (yes I'm cynical!) - they see the amount of mule characters and with them selling new chars for $10 later this summer they see this as more mules for storage....I guess we'll never get improved trade...

The solution is simple, secretly make W|T|B/s and W T B/s make items drop less often for that player until they literally have nothing to trade.

Only been after a decent trade system for a year. Gotta keep churning out the chapters, ya know ?

An Auction house of sorts would solve the problem.

You could always of course just tick off the 'general' and 'trade' channels, you won't be needing them much, unless you like to look at idiots spamming their "new l3et kewl guild" and asking "HEY ANY1 WAN TA JOON MY FR TIS LEVAL OON QAST?".

Turn chat off. The point of Guild Wars is to kill the other players, not chat with them.

The fact that we as the people who use Local for what it is for (chat, PUG, help, ect.) would even be given that suggestion is rediculous...but I'm not starting this again x .x

Did the patch notes say they improved trade? I don't recall seeing it...so why are you acting as if this is the improved trade?

They've put all the WTS/WTB into the same trade channel, basically updated the filter....
Is this all they're going to do? Sounds like it as I've seen many posts which are over a year old about improving trade.

And I've even seen posts today that say that Gaile has confirmed that any improvement to trade will be with Chapter 3!!!
(I haven't seen any ANET confirmation of these though)

I'm nearly at the point where I don't care anymore - Anet please restore my faith - fix this problem very soon please....

but how about guru auction house?

my brother goes on chest/geens farm, fids stuff, posts.

then he plays the game, does whatever he wants. in a week or so he takes 2 min to meet with the auction winner, trade, and hes happy withthe cash made. and he doest need to sit in LA spamming and waisting his time

I think it is pretty sad when the only viable solution to stop trade spam is to go somewhere else. If I wanted to buy something, I'd have the buy channel on. The fact that I do not means that I do not want to buy anything. If you are so desparate to sell something, lower the price to reflect your desparation.
