Sorry if something on this has already been posted but I didn't see anything after a quick search

Randomly checked the rare material trader today, the guy had no sapphires. I was thinking maybe they sold out, people stacking up on them or something while the price is fairly low. As I have a few I decided to see how much the trader is buying them for as if he has sold out the price should have gone up. I was suprised to find that he is buying for 700g, but if you ask for a quote he's buying for 250g per sapphire, yet rubies price is unchanged.

Screenshot below just taken, what's going on? I know they have no known use yet but still, buying for 250g...

Yeah, it's not just sapphires that have done that. Other materials have done that in the recent past. Our theory is that the amounts the traders will buy at are being controlled (as in a controlled/capped economy without too much regard for supply/demand) but the amount that they will sell at (if they have it) is almost enitrely controlled by supply and demand. It allows for gold sinks because most of the gold goes in one direction. The economy is not purely based on supply and demand, in otherwords. Whether its a bug or a feature remains to be seen.
