Oh yes, there's no elves in this story, too!

The story seems vaguely familiar tho, whom did I hear it from? Prince Rurik??

from the article, it appears that it will be an Egypt/Arabian style campaign.
I wouldnt be surprised if Chapter 4 was the one to give more Races to choose (dwarf, tengu)

For Nightfall - i expect 1 combat & 1 magic class... although I cant think of anything 'new' to do, myself... speculations???

Anyway there is no way to tell what or how the title is incorperated just yet. In fact I don't care.. I just care about the content.. so hear's hoping. Hopefully character from Chapter one and two will be able to do ALL the missions in Chapter 3.. that's my biggest grip and one of my only as far as the connection between 1 and 2.

Also slightly concerned about Ritualist and Assassins.. I've but a lot of work in my Ritualist so hopefully there will be at least a few new skills or at least elite skills to cap in the third.. but with two different development teams.. who knows.
I think it would be safe to say, that there will be no assassins or ritualists in this new chapter. No A/rt skills, quests, or ANYTHING.

What I expect:
Implemented 2 new classes (as in factions)
6 core classes, with a Chapter 3 Skillset
New skills for the 6 Core Class
1 new faction

What not to expect:
elves (hopefully NEVER!)
anything to do with Assassins/Ritualists/Luxon/Kurzick
Factions will probably be the only expansion/chapter to feature a dual-faction war w/ boundary lines (the game is called Factions, after all- I doubt any other expansion will ever have another 'faction war')

I personally think that there will be no new Rit/Sin skills left in the next update.

But, since it is TWO different teams working on them, I more or less expect new skills and such every YEAR for expansion characters (same dev team with new expansion, makes marketing and development sense), for the dev team that made the expansion characters. So, Rit/Sins will get new skills etc for Chapter 4, while the new characters in Chapter 3 will get more in Chapter 5. Core classes will continue to get new ones. I believe this makes the most sense since this would be excellent marketing, think about it. Its incentive to buy old expansions, and keep them fresh, while at the same time consistently promoting the core game, which is the heart of it all.

What do you all think? Makes sense to me.

there was a comment in an interview (search is down) that stated chapter three would be heavier in *content* (definition of content not specified) which i hope is more open areas to explore, more quests, things to do

Perhaps Chapter 3 will take place at night. Like, Factions takes place during the day. So, "Nightfall" must take place at night. xD

maybe nightfall represents Anet implementing night and day in the game. Sunrise and sunset. Maybe they might change the name all together, it's still early you know. Or maybe they have a theme that something bad happens every night to us in-game and we need fight the evil off.

You should go work for Anet as an "ideas" guy.

Problem with that is Sins and Rits will get left behind in the skills dept.
What makes sence is that the fine folks at Anet will probably catch the Sins and Rits up with skills to the current count of the core characters. Those extra skills will be available for those that own factions. If you dont own factions you get the new land, new professions.

Chapter 4 will probably have new skills for the chapter 3 expansions, new class or classes and new content. I don't really see them keep on adding skills to the core profesions each expansion and leaving the expansion characters alone to fall behind. Those die hard Sin or Rit or whatever new class will be left behind. Besides, how many more healing spells are needed for the monk?

If they do add new skills for the core group I see it being a small number like 5, 1 elite and 4 regular skills if that. Just my opinion, but yours is a well thought out idea also.

Wouldn't even remotely work due to, you know, timezones.

No, Deckard Cain. He tells you the story in Horagath, which will be the setting for chapter 5, and chapter 4 will be set in Hell.

But, why is everyone so against elves, I love them and their xenophobic ways. And their pointy ears.

Oh, and @ Mr. T up above me you don't base the day/night cycle off timezones, you just make a seperate time system for GW. Generally the day/night cycle is much shorter than a real life day/night cycle, take for example TES:Oblivion, hours pass by far more quickly that in RL, therefore, even if I'm playing at 10:00 in the morning, it may still be night in the game.

I quite like the idea of mounts. If it is set in the desert we could have camel riders. Plus Pikes for warriors which do extra damage to mounts and riders if the warrior is in a defense stance.

I'm thinking that NightFall has a double meaning in that people will get an idea of the direction (if any) Guild Wars is going after Chapter 3, and if it's going nowhere then it's "Night Fall" for A.Net.

"Yeah, NC is fast with these things. They have two gangs of developers tag teaming expansions. In fact, now that Factions is done that crew is already working on the fourth one. That makes them a freaking MMO machine gun. "

Working on number 4??? Holy crap. I still have to beat factions with all my prophecies chars.

If it is indeed Egypt/Arabian, they'd be dumb not to include some content for Assassins, and to a lesser extent Ritualists. Rituals were very common in Ancient Egypt, as were spiritual beliefs and such. And Assassins? I believe the word is actually from the Arabaic language, and used to be spells Hashassins.

For a new combat class, the can have like... Moors or even a generic Tribesman. A new caster class can be High Priest/Priestess.

well it would be nice if they do add rit skills but i still don't think rit or any profession would be pointless just because they don't get new skills.. though people might lose interest in them... but not me. I <3 my Ritualist.

No mounts (ew)
Auction House of some sort (Hope)
If it switchs from night to day... i have a feeling my comp will be on the fritz with that so I'm hoping not.

Nightfalls sounds more like a place to me or something like that. Maybe some place of importance to the story or something. Ah well.. a little leak would be nice.. but when i think about it they were pretty tightly under wraps about Factions till very close to it's release.
