hi.

lately i have not been able to connect to guildwars at all.
it just stays on 'connecting'.

i went to get support from support.guidwars.com..
and i did what they said... (configged my firewall and router..)

still im stuck...i have been able to connect in the past, but for some reason i cant connect at all anymore.

im playing factions.

if anyone could help me on this, i would be very thankful.

you generally dont need the extra firewall, and you may still have windows firewall running, its in the services start-settings-control panel- administrative services-windows firewall/ICS(right click it, stop it, and disable it.)

now make sure your port triggering(go to GWs site and looks it up(i belive its 6119, but dont quote me on that)

port trigger that port, and then try.

windows firewall is off and i have the port 80 and 6112
configged as gwars1 and gwars2 on my wireless routers "gaming and applications" tab set on allow both tcp and udb.

what router are you using?

that would help a bit, also shut off your other firewall.

have you updated the firmware for your router?

its what runs your whole router, so you need to go to linksys site, look up your router and download the firmware

ok here is what i found there are 5 different versions for your router at linksys.com

now. i picked version 1 and here is the link to the bios

http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satel...VisitorWrapper

so download it, go into your router, and go to administration tab

click browse(wherever you downloaded the firmware file too) then click upgrade, it should update it for you my friend.

thanks i did.
however it still seems not to be able to connect..

edit:also i do have one more piece of information about my problem..
i went ahead and bypassed my router, connecting my computer to my modem directly,
however it was still the same problem.

so i think its not my router...

Anet has a stand alone utility that can be used to trouble shoot network issues:
ftp://ftp.guildwars.com/diag/netinfotool_allos_gw.exe

Download and run it and it will produce a log file. This should ID any failure connection points between your pc and anet server's. You may want to open a trouble ticket with them and make sure you attach that log file.

yeah i had emailed the support team for help, they gave me the same link. i emailed them the doc it created and they told me to try disabling my 3rd party software that was running. i did and it worked... meaning i guess that there was a program running that wouldnt allow me to connect. i guess my firewall.

anyway i still gotta fix my firewall, but at least i can play it now.

I have experienced the same problem on 2 laptops since the new update.
It worked until the 4th of may update too... Played alot with the same settings before this update. Now, even at another friends house one of his machines can't connect, whilst the other can.

His stationary AMD X2 64bit 3800 machine with 64bit windows XP connects fine, while his, and my lapotop, both entirely different cannot connect to guildwars.

FIX PLX!
