Unable to complete all of Factions with Prophecies character?

I brought over my character from Prophecies and travelled back to the Monastery so that I could start from the beginning and complete all the quests and missions. I also want to fill out the map to get the explorer title and the missions title.

It doesn't look like you can get any of the quests from the Monastery since you aren't "Canthan", and a good part of the map around the Monastery is locked off. Does that mean I can't earn those titles and get access to all the game content with my existing character? If so that really sucks.

Is there something I'm missing, or is this intentional?

I think its intentional, else every1 would take theyr lvl20s and finish factions in a minute and that would be unfair to the people who want to play throught the game form the beginning...

I think this in more reguards to the new rank explorer % unlock.

Rit/Asa will not be able to get to C1 pre-sear.

Yeah, that island/area is like pre-sear, so I don't see why you would wanna take characters there apart from wanting to explore it.

There are missions there though, which you need if you want to do the missions title thing.

Exactly, I want to do the missions and quests on the island and explore all the territory, otherwise I won't be able to get the titles. Anyone figure out how to get access to those areas?

Not sure on the mission areas (since I haven't mad eit there yet) but you can get your Prophecies chars to the island.

When you first arrive in Cantha, go south through Burdek Byway to the Marketplace. From there go to the Docks and talk to Firstmate (someone). He'll take you to Seitung Harbour (on the island). Then simply head west until you reach Lannocks Courtyard, and you're at the Monastery.

Yeah, thanks, this entire thread is about what you can do once you get to the monastery. There doesn't appear to be any way to get the quests that allow you to enter the Ran Musu Gardens, Minister Cho's Estate, or Zen Daijun. All of the doors are blocked and the guards say that you can't get in.

I guess this really is a stand-alone game - don't bother trying to play all of it if you use a character from Tyria.

Well my new char in cantha, the missions there dont count towards the mission title, the first one to count is in the mainland,which GW:P chars can do, so your not missing anything cept the n00by quests on how to play :P

If they meant for you to start any lower than you do when you bring your prophesies character over, it would do it for you. So whereever it brings you to, you do the missions/quests from there on up. They bring you to whatever town for a reason.

I think the Missions on that island *do* count towards the "Canthan Defender" title (or whatever that title is for completing missions with a Gold rating or above). When I completed the first mission on the island with my Rt/N (and completed it with the Gold rating), it added 1 mission to the 1/13 missions at Gold rating in "Titles."

Hey, A-Net will prob realize that you cannot access with chars from Prphecy, so they will omit the island at Canthan. Such as pre-sear in Chap 1 is omitted.

Give them some time. They will fix it.

What about Vizunah Square (Local Quarters), that is a "countable" mission area and cannot be accessed by Tyrians. That means you cannot explore that part of the map on that side...

as of Monday Tyrian Explorers will not be able to get to the Monastery Island at all. As I understand it, that's an exclusive option to the preview event only. Once that goes so will access, so get your map bips now if you want them.

Also there seems to be a few areas with local and foreign quarters... Local is Canthan only access Foreign is Tyrian only access I believe... so yea there seems to be a few region specific areas Tyrians can not go. Here is the list so far I have found.

Ran Musu Gardens (I believe this is because the attrib quests are here)
Minister Cho's Estate
Zen Daijun
Shing Jea Arena

Vizunah Square (Local Quarter)

Its also Important to note that with the new Quest requirements to enter many map bips, running services is now kinda obsolete, as you need to have the quest to get in. And to get the quest often you have to be playing the storyline game in sequence.

In any case. to get into those places you MUST be using a Factions Campaign Character.

That is totally insane. So there is no way that I can have a character that has the titles for both Tyria and Cantha? They really intend that you start a new character for each chapter in order to access all the content for that chapter? They said that I could bring over my existing character but they didn't bother to mention that once I get here I can't actually play the whole game with it.

I just can't believe that.

Well in all honestly the Monastery is only about 10% of the game. and they give you access this weekend at least to 50% of that 10%. so... IDK...

Linked characters that go to Tryia from Cantha have no way to get to Pre-searing either. Right? so its equal footing.

And as far as titles. that was a last min thing that was fan proposed that got threw in. It was not intentional I'm sure... Just an effect of the model. However you get the initial title for 80% I think. and like I said the monastery is only about 10%... so you should be able to attain between 80% and 90% for the Cantha Explorer title on any character.

Just my opinion. I have not got there yet. I'm only at 65% ATM for Cantha with my original Tyrian Character. and I'm down to Zos Shivros Channel.

Along the same lines, I find it disheartening that I brought my Prophecies monk over first, and find myself not being able to participate in various missions with guildies who have Canthan born characters. The GW:F Manuscript info states clearly that "in GW:F you are able to play with anyone, anywhere, at anytime." However, that is simply not true. I have no problem with being shut out of pre-sear, I mean that's a given. But there should definately be no delineation between Canthan and Tyrian on merged accounts when doing cooperative missions.

For all the people saying Canthan characters can't go to pre-sear ascalon, the difference is that pre-sear doesnt count in the % of exploration of Tyria. Shing Jea island does.
