Anyone notice the speed of Factions?

During the short time I've been in Cantha I noticed that leveling was MUCH MUCH quicker than in Prophecies. The first quest you get to go into the Monastary already leveled you up to level 2 and without noticing, just doing some of the Naga Fang quests, I became level 6.

Also, the end game armor seems pretty easy to get, or maybe that's just with my Prophecies character.

Elite skills and greens seem to be everywhere too, but I noticed that the greens weren't exactly perfect anymore, which is cool.

Discuss.

I think its because most of Cantha was intented to be played by level 20 characters. So to make things easier for those starting brand new in Cantha, they must have done something to make you level up faster. I'm going to assume experience from quests, but as not having fully done the tutorial myself I couldn't be sure.

About the greens not being perfect, it is not necessarily cool.
Aside from beginning characters, no one would want them, and most new characters belong to the people who already got max greens from Prophecies.
Now.. what do you think these ppl will use?

And those newbies who play GW for the first time ever in their life, will quickly relalize that they need max greens, and will strive to buy them from players who already own them.

I hate the idea that it so happened that at this point no one needs purples, and even golds are not wanted unless they are perfect 15^50 req 8.
This is disgusting.. How did this come to this? I remember the good old days when GW just came out.. back then every single item seemed new and cool.. even with a damage of 9-12....

As for fast leveling, I likes...
Better armor might be avalable at later levels. Better looking that is. Not better stats.

i read an article i cant remember where but it said that the chars in factions would level much quicker. probly beacuase cantha is intended for lvl20 chars, same reason they didnt bring the level cap up.

While faster leveling is nice, I certainly appreciated it, I think it hurts the flow of the game. In Tyria you weren't "supposed" to be level 20 until late maguuma or the desert. If you do a fair amount of quests in each and keep up with the missions for the most part you'll be right alongside the henchies with levels. I thought this was a great way to build your knowledge about the game, which is why when I recently (about a week ago) started my mesmer, took her through the whole game, rather than run to droks etc. I understand Cantha was meant to be played through the role of a lvl 20 character, its just sad to see that element nearly completely taken out.

On the other hand, coming from a seasoned player, I love not having to wait forever to get to 20. It's nice to start, hit up the important quests, and be there relatively quickly.

I had a guildmate tell me that it took him only 13 hours to reach level 20.

I think part of the reason they made it so much easier to level in this game is so that you could start doing 'the good stuff' faster. In tyria it took forever to reach a place were it was a challenege to win, and by then the game was almost over! Now you get to take on mission of higher difficulty sooner. I'm happy they did this, although for anyone trying to rush some trouble and fast.

Yeah, they want you to get to max armor, skill, weapon status, etc. asap for the competetive missions and whatnot. Now I just need to find the second 15 attribute quest.

I think it's brilliant,... it completely removes levelling grind from the game. Get to 20, bang, go play. May hurt some people's development, but they'll learn.

Also should seriously shut down the "raise the level above 20" crowd as well by further making levelling irrelevant to play.

It does stink that there is less learning time, and that the curve is harsh, but honestly this game was made as an expansion to prophecies first, a stand alone game second. If it was honestly made as a stand alone game, there would have been more development like Prophecies shows us. While I have my own hesitancies, I am overall pleased with the decision to speed up leveling.

Some noob was trying to sell me a non-max green item, but I didn't fall for it. BEWARE! People are trying to sell them like crazy! Don't but it at a high price if it's not max! The person trying to sell it to me was level 3 so they must be easy to get!

You get it from the Kirin in the Harbor. But I hdd to leave for the mainland and then come back before he showed me the quest marker. I even talked to him before I left, and there was no quest available.
