MERGED: Factions Collector's Edition Comments and Questions

Having alittle trouble locating a store that has the CE available to pre-order (if not that, know they will be getting it) in Canada.

Gamestop.com has it, but my local EBGames says it's not in thier system. In other words, only available in the states. They told be this twice: before and after the contents where announced. Well, Guildwars.com says it's there for all of North America. Now I'm confused.

Has anyone is Canada located a store that will be getting the CE? If so, what store?

I was told they didn't have it.

No luck as of yet. And believe me, I tried.

nothing online either. (I was hoping to go the online route this time around. but just didnt again bcuz everyone seems to be confused.)

I even sent an email to futureshop.ca. ofcourse they wont say clearly. They suggest you go ask instore...

Well for the 1st collector's I went instore and got it. But it wasnt really a preorder. it was 1st come 1st serve in actuality. (their preorder package receipt did not "reserve" you any copy. you pick on that day you pick one up, which only thing good was that, it was still earlier than release date. )

So, today I preordered from EB...they said not in their system....but they put a "note" under my name that I want the Collector's when it came in...here's hoping no unwanted surprises...
(BTW. purchase price for Regulars at EB/Futureshop atm are the same.)

I am quite puzzled at the difficulty of this expansion/ch.2 is putting all the retailers+customers through atm. My experience was perfect when the 1st one was released.

A confirmation of the GWF Collector's at EB instores for Canada would be greatly appreciated. (since it is available at ebgames.com -----cant believe they wont put a canadian version online.)

Added: Question: Anyone's Futureshop instore received the Preorder package yet? (seems my area hasn't.)

Speaking of Future Shop, I phoned Best Buy as well. I talked to three different people and my impression was they didn't know what they where talking about. Eventually I got one person who said they know about it, but are not taking pre-orders for it "yet".

Maybe they are doing a "first-come, first-serve" as they did for Prophecies. Didn't come to mind when I was on the phone (was sort of disgusted how they treated my question), but I will phone again Monday.

I went to two different Best Buy locations and 3 different Future Shop locations in Canada (BC) and only two of the people (both at Best Buy) actually took the time to check their computer.

In both cases, they stated that there is no item number for the pre-order, if they will even be getting it however they will have the game on April 15th. I know the GW website states the 28th, so that must have been a tentative date in their system.

Anyhow, if anyone has any luck getting a pre-order box in BC, please let us know .

Maybe Gaile can clear this up for us? Is CE available at all in Canada?

I picked up my pre-order a few days ago and the guy told me that it doesn't matter whether I said I wanted the normal version or the CE version. It's my money, so when the game gets released I can tell them that I want the CE instead of the normal version. The pre-order package for both is the same regardless. Besides, they'd have to be even more stupid than the EB games folks to not let you upgrade to the CE when it is released. All of the places I've called tell me the same general thing - the CE will be released at the same time as the regular version. Hope that helps clear things up a bit.

the only problem with this is, if they really disregard the meaning of
"pre-ordering" then conflicts and issues (from past horror stories of ppl) will always no doubt, arise and ppl will be "screwed" out of the version they really want.

/here's hoping that that doesnt happen.

added: here's the thing about preordering on US retailer sites. With the $ conversion + shipping cost + delivery time. It would just be cheaper to buy it in Canada (or your own region). (i.e. but it seems like EBgames.com were going to go make a Ebgames.ca before, but has stopped to implement it somehow...hmm.)

Anyone find a retailer in Canada that can give you a definative yes on CE availability? I haven't yet.

My local EB just called and said they have them now. You guys should give EB a call.

A little tip about Futureshop and Bestbuy, they are the same company, BB bought FS in i think 2001. They use the exact same (crappy) computer system, so if the BB guy told you that then it is the same for FS.

Just called them, the SKU for the collectors edition is not in their system (yet). My local store did get their pre-order boxes in today though.

Forget the EB thing, the guy at the store confused it with the pre order packages. Gaile was in LA last night and i asked about the CE in Canada, she said something about it coming here. I don't remember what she said word for word, sorry.

On topic, I guess I'll just put my money down and get the pre-order package and just hope EB eventually gets it. Sucks, but the release date is getting close and closer.
