Just two new classes to consider in a future chapter.
Werewolf
vampire
Two new class suggestions
2 pages • Page 1
warewolf...not bad, but why restrict it to just wolf.
why not make it Lycanthrope.....giving you the chance to have many different kinds of Lycan...wolf, leopard, fox, tiger, theres loads of different types of lycanthropy out there, some of which are easier to catch than others (when reading about them in the fiction books rather than the historical/mythalogical books)
as to vampire....hm...not too bad if large parts of the map are in darkness, but unless you have some kind of get-out fix, unfeasable in a game where thetes no day/night cycle.
however, if the whole of the map was in darkness, and the two were like the luxon/kurzic faction war, it might work...
*but then we would get folks whineing about it being Underworld the game lol
heheh*
pluss.....how does one be a class of vamp or lycan...one becomes them by infection or is born that way *depending on the mythos*
you might have to do some long hunt down in the Training Area section to actually *find* the person that can *infect* you with ether lycan or vamp class...that would be a quest inof itself

At the beginning of prophecies you get trained your skills so I guess you would get turned at the beginning of the new chapter. I suppose the world would have to have eternal darkness much like the eternal daylight used now but then you wouldn't be able to use the vamp class in the other games. Forgot all about the daylight. Since the characters between the chapters can travel between lands the vampire class wouldn't be able to do this so that class couldn't really work. Maybe if they made the vamp a day walker kinda like Blade.

I have a class as well:
(very rough)
Summoner
FF style, can summon monsters based on elements.
For example the fire summon would be named Rodgort (vor concept art look at the skill)
You cannot move when a summon is out.
If you move the monster becomes a ball (depending on the elemnt, fire=red) on top of your head and will not come out until you stay still for 10 seconds.
The 5 branches are:
(Birth) For every point in this it increases the higher level the summon can be and its health. Max (16) is level 25 with 400-1000 health (still deciding) etc.
(Fire Birth)
Gives your skills for fire summoning more umph. The more points in here the taller and stronger the summons.
(Water birth)
etc
(earth, and air)
etcetera
you get the idea

I don't know where you get your definition of Lycan, Rayea, but it is Greek for Wolf. How that translates into other shapeshifting I don't know, but yeah it would be alot better if you could change into many different creatures.
I think Vampires are pretty cool, right after Dragons, it would make an interesting race, but as for being a class.... Necromancer already has a full line of blood majics, many of which are vampire spells, making an entirely new class out of something that is partisan of another class isn't original enough, IMO.
I think a shapeshifter class would be kind of cool, I made an idea on it in the past, but when you account for the probable addition of other playable races it doesn't quite fit, there are already several demihuman creatures out there, Char, Forgotten, Tengu, there could even be a Wolf race and Vampire race which would be interesting, but I don't think shapeshifters would work right with other races shapeshifting.
If they do make other races playable, it might be a problem, but they could also make classes that are specific to certain races, like a shapeshifter. If they did make other classes playable, and they did make race specific classes, it wouldn't be too bad, but seeing char turn into werewolves, and tengu, into werewolf or something simular, would be kind of unusual.
I think Vampires should be another kind of enemy like undead, they are very simular except more advanced. They could be another playable race as well, but with almost no distinction from humans, it may be a waste. I would rather have Vampires than Elves though.....
As a class, Vampire doesn't realy have a place, it's primary description is an attribute line for Necro, and Assassin is doing shadow teleports and such which is just about all a vampire could realy be, I think having some vampiric armor types for Necromancer would be more appropriate. You can basicly make your own vampire already, just need some better threads.
I won't say that either are impossible, but there certainly are better choices.

ok, basic info...
depending on the mythos your playing in, lycantropy is ether inherited or infected.
the same goes for vampirisme.
again, depending on the mythos your using depends on wheter or not you can be born with it, or if it is just an infection.
with lycantropy, it is often a simple infection. a bite, scratch or blood from a lycan can cause another to become infected.
depending on mythos depends on wheter or not there is more than one type of lcantropy.
for example...have you ever seen a Hammer WW, but not ever seen a hammer warecat?
no, Hammer wereCat doesnt exist *as far as i know*, since the old hammer movies never made were cats, although they did make Cat People
the same is tru on the vamp side....some vamps are born, can wander about in the sunlight and dont need to feed every day to survive...others dont sleep/die thru the daytime.
again, you have to KNOW the exact mythos of the game world your using....

lol...bahamut got there while i was typing...
ok, i get Lycan more from fiction...oh, and i found out tonight that warewolf came from olde *sometihng* that meant serial killer (CSI i think..grissom is a mine of info
hehe)
i remember seeing a henchie in the froobi weekend that was a shapeshifter, but it was a she and she was a ritualist from the look of her.
ok, Lycan, i get short for Lycantrope (coined from hearing it on Underworld, its usefull for typing hehe)
i prefer lycantrope to simply warewolf since theres many diferent types of lycantrope in fiction...just read a few of the Anita Blake books and you will hear about were in the types of...
fox, tiger, leopard, rat, wolf, snake (but that was cursed i think iirc) bear and even hyena...(you so do not want to make a werehyena mad..they can chew thru your car..im not kidding ^^they ate her jeep cherrokee 0.o)
there was shapeshifter in the form of swan too (swanmays..mostly women but they had a swan king)
but the distinction was more that the lycan types were predator type rather prey type
so i prefer that since it gives you a lot of shapes you could potentially shift into (even given that a lycan is infected with a particualr type of the strain, like if you got rat lycantropy, you cant get wolf type.)

Well to expand on Hunters Post here are some ideas for skills for the classes. One I wouldn’t have werewolf and vampire I would have a vampire class that would have the ability to shape shift to say any animal that is currently represented in the game.Like a ranger if you wanted to shapeshift, you would have to have that skill always equipped in your skill bar. As well as the beast skills you wanted to use.
The Skills for your shape shift form would be set up like the beast mastery skills are now. Feral Lunge etc. Except instead of guiding a pet you’d be guiding yourself.
Skills for normal and not beast mode would be focused on damage dealing for example a skill could be modeled off of the W/ skill “Gash” where the foe bleeds. Or like the grasping ghouls “Chomp” Where target foe gets crippled. For healing it would set up like a necromancer where the class is dependent on taking health away from target foe and receiving it itself. I think the attack skills could be loosely based of the sword/Hammer skills that are out already, Slashing, distracting blow etc.
I think some of the necro skills could be used , because essentially the necro is a vampire, so maybe just take the necro as it is, add shape shifting, get rid of the non vamp stuff and vola.
For the weapon, I personally think it would be a cool idea that the vampire didn’t have a weapon but instead their teeth and hands are their weapons. A way this could be done is for example, giving the weapons crafter iron ingots or steel and other crafting items to add to the dmg dealt by your “weapons” I know people aren’t going to go for this idea, but I think it would be pretty neat. People could still use drops for weapons only they just salvage the weapons that drop for items. You would still be able to say add a mod to it, maybe something like steel talon, dmg + 15% while hexed or something. That’s about all the ideas I have for this one. I think it’s a good idea and I wouldn’t mind seeing a class like this be added.
I hope this is the kind of info that you guys were looking for?

After all, they have to have something in Chapter 10!

As for the OP, I pretty much agree with most of the points here. You can't just suggest one word classes without some description of what they would do. Besides, there are already some Shapeshifter Classes described in other threads.
r
a shapeshifter would already be found in a druid.
In D2 you could transform into a werewolf and bear and in WoW you can transform into Bear (tank abilities), Panther (assasin/rougue), Cheeta (running), Sea Lion (swimming abilities) along with some other class they added after I left WOW. A druid would most awesome, you could play a druid many different ways as in WoW
Shapeshifter : Ability to adapt (not using sea lion of course since we cant swim anyways) using the above abilities but not as proficient as the primrary tanks/Assasins/Tree of Illusion (for being a mesmer type)
Nature healer : Have nature healing spells but not as proficient as a monk.
Nature Caster: Can deal nature damage (i.e. elemetalist) but not as proficient as a elemetalist.
as a bonus for being a druid primary your druid spells are more powerful
i know this is a stupid idea, but it was one
