Help me decipher this weapons mods...

Hey everyone,

I just picked up a really interesting wand. It has some mods which are a bit confusing to me. Here are its stats:

Attack Speed +10%
Damage -10%
Damage -10%
Energy +5
Damage +25% (vs Charr)

What im wondering is if the Damage -10% is the damage you deal -10%, or the damage you take -10%. I tried testing it on some ettins outside yaks bend; without the wand on they consistently hit me for 30 with power attack. With the wand on, they hit me for 24, so i think it reduces the damage i take. Does anyone know for sure how this works?

It must damage you give. If it was damage recieved then it would be Armor +5 or something like that.

Very strange for a wand to have so many stats. Never seen that before...

Is that a collectors wand from Ascalon?

I remember reading on the W/N solo UW thread that you need a wand with +10% attack speed, i could just never find it. If its true that the recieved damage is reduced too it would be quite useful. Tbh i think its the damage you deal, sorta like the HoD (i think)

+5 energy = Positive bonus
-10% damage = Negative bonus
+10% attack speed = Positive
A 2nd -10% damage = Negative

Just my take anyway, theres always a chance it was just coincidence...

This wand also has versions with 10% miss chance or 20% less criticals in place of the 2nd damage mod.

It is a collector's wand that can be gotten for 3 charr carvings just outside Nolani.

Its very popular because its unconditional +5e.

But no such luck on the armor thing OP. If it reduced dmg on you it'd be a hard number, not a percentage. Like the -2 damage while in stance sheilds.

And if ti did both 5e and reduced dmg, it'd be nerfed in 2 secs, and the ones left would be millions.

Yeah, it's the Nolani Wand w/ inherent +5e. Replacement for those who can't afford HoD or like wanding and dislike melee (HoD, FFS). When you were reducing damage, it was just your mind playing tricks on you probably, wanting it to do less, that or Ettins were having a bad day... .

Surely if this thing did actually reduce recieved damage by 20% the moment all these W/Mo found out about we'd have hoardes of them running round RA wanding people feeling even more godlike

Not just a replacment for HoD, it's also the fastest attacking weapon in the game.

The Nolani Fire Wand is hardly a replacement for the HoD sword or FFS. Those two weapons have the ability to have the weapon upgrade of your choice (Enchantments last 20% longer, Health +30) in addition to an innate modifier (Energy +5, Halves skill recharge of spells (Chance: 10%)). All the Nolani Wand has is an unconditional +5 energy, a rather mediocre mod for a caster, and 10% faster attack speed. Generally it's far better for a caster to get a weapon with fast cast/recharge mods. It is not the fastest attacking weapon in the game, although it is faster than other ranged weapons. For that reason, PvP Warriors use it to build adrenaline from a distance.

A wand at +10% is faster than a sword? Whoa.

1.75 attack speed for wand, -.175 = 1.575.

Not even close to sword or axe (1.33)

yeh, Some warrior PVP player gave me one in a trade.
He sayed that all the high ranked guild's warriors use this to keep adrenaline up when not attacking.

go test it against the mersaat or jades while you are running.

before equipping the wand you take -9 dmg per second from spectral agony

after equipping you take -7

if all your armor is infused the damage is easy to watch the difference

If that truly is the case i believe they screwed somet up while making the mods...

What would be more useful as a runner, +30 health or 20% damage reduction on everything +5 energy?


Btw, the 20% enchanting possibility is only half the reason for it not replacing the HoD sword. If you're holding a wand Aatxe will no longer spam ripostes, somet that really does help when your echoing it onto a few of them.

Btw i just tried it. Still did 9 damage to me. Sure you weren't using a stance or somet?
