Since the Slots debate is off and running again, I thought this issue deserved its own thread to discuss.
Why would anyone not merge accounts? Is two slots worth being trapped in one area, with no way to access any old skills or news skills across all your characters?
This is not a thread to discuss slots. This is just to hear (hopefully) from someone who is planning not to merge accounts, and to hear his or her reasons.
Is Anyone not Merging?!?

Only an idiot wouldn't merge. People don't look at it both ways...They think they are getting cheated but their not.
Anyway you look at you owning 1 game on your acct gets you 4 slots, and owning two gets you 6 slots.
People say "But People with only Factions gets 4 slots with factions and I only get 2 RIP RIP JIP RIP JIP BLAH" My response?..."Well DUH....Didn't you get 4 slots with your first game on acct?" "Yea...well..." "Yea just shut up thats what I thought."
/merge

Let's keep this on possible reasons why people would not merge (I think it's pretty obvious why people are merging...)

"I think it's pretty obvious why people are merging" - To get access to their unlocks and such on faction based characters.
Saying dont mention slots is like saying "Hey, Lets talk about why people get jobs, but NO TALKING ABOUT MONEY and/or MONEY ISSUES"
Right, well, to be clear:
We can discuss the issue of why people wouldn't link without calling them idiots or telling them to shut up.
There are plenty of threads doing that already.
So, yes, you need to mention slots obviously, but you don't have to be rude about it. That's what I was getting at. I didn't want another flame thread.

my math is simple
4 slots = 1 year of game
2 slots = 6 months
if we are going to have guildwars 5 , 6 , 7 ... i hope 20 !! where is the reason for not merging , 1 huge world , or 20 mini worlds ? ...
who doesnt want to bring his first char to the latest chapter ... i dont think anyone who only has one guildwars acount and get factions will not merge.
people not merging , have 3 guildwars acount and will buy 3 factions acounts , merging some and others dont ... slots maniacs

If someone buys Factions, (installed separately) they get 4 slots.
If they merge with Chapter 3 (6 months later) they get 2 more.
In other words, your math should be:
4 slots = initial purchase
2 slots = each merged account (from what we know so far)
so much for not being about slots. I suppose it's inevitable
guildwars 1 = 4 slots = 1 year
guildwars 2 = 2 slots = 6 months
guildwars 3 = 2 slots = 6 months
where did i fail ?
not merging should mean you dont have anyother guildwars acount thats why you get 4 . in any version.
if you get factions first you get 4 , and then if you buy chapter 3 you get 2 more , and if you get chapter 1 you get 2 more ..
guildwars 2 = 2 slots = 6 months
guildwars 3 = 2 slots = 6 months

Your Math only works for those presently playing GW. Anyone who purchases Factions as their first GW product will be on a 6 month timeline for expansions (if things go according to plan).
Chapter 2 (new) = 4 slots = 6 months
Chapter 3 (linked) = 2 slots = 6 months
Chapter 4 (linked) = 2 slots = 6 months
18 months = 8 slots.
(As opposed to us, where 18 months = 6 slots) Make sense?
EDIT: Actually, the later you get in the game, the more instant slots you have access to, because you can immediately buy past Chapters to get instant slots without waiting. Basically, linking slots to a timeline just doesn't work.

I have 2 accounts. I am only buying one and merging. ANet's greedy 6 slot if merged policy is idiotic. No 4+4 = 6 math is going to convince me and others alike. No extra money from me.
BTW - merging content argument is a red herring. Its an attempt to confuse the matter.
As if merging is somekind of special gift to us LOYAL users. What did they expect? People not merge?
They make it sound like as if merging is some kind of luxury. It is at best an expected feature.

thats not it at all , its very simple , of corse people that have the game will merge , the point is , for people that dont have they can play chapter 2 without having to buy the first one.
i really think anet should cut down the merging slot bonus to 1 , people are stupid to complain so much , 1 slot is what they sould give .
guildwars is 1 game . you dont need to buy all expencions to play it , thats why when not merging you get 4 slots . its your starter kit .
if you dont want to merge becose you only get 2 extra slots , well dont merge it , thats your problem .
if anet would just give one for the merging , i think people would see it more like what im saying and not even would thing about 4+4=8 ...
but they are nice , they give us 2 , and we cry about it .. booooo

Before it gets closed, let me just say, as long as some people want to try out every Profession primary without deleting old characters, then some people will complain. As customers, that's their right.
Anet isn't being "nice", they're being good business people... because there's no way 4 linked slots cost significantly more than 4 unlinked slots.
But Anet know most people will link, so they save money (?!?) by having most players have 6 slots instead of 8.
Those that want more, will buy more copies, thus making Anet - more money!
I have no problem with this, I want Anet to make money. I just think they should be up front about it, and all this "fuzzy math," "balance issues", and other baloney just pisses off people who know better.
