Anyone know what guild is #1? My guild is like 6791 or some silly number like that.

No one knows who is #1 because 3/4 of the top 25 are GvG farmers.

there are lots of really tough guilds that dont even do gvg, they do tombs all day, some top guilds quit the game, its very hard to tell which is really #1.

GvG farmers???
Wow thats kinda mean spirited? Or is that simply the best feeling because yo aren't in them? I'm not in one either mind you, but I don't feel that way at all. I have had the pleasure of playing with a few member of "Disturbed Froces - DFx" in the Tombs during the BWE's. Great bunch who seemed to have it together. If they are there it's because they worked for it. One Guild I have been in have gone to battle against the "Sissy Boys - sB" And they slaughtered us along their path to the top.

So I find it hard to think they are farmers, but lets face it, if they go to GvG and end up against your Unranked team, who's fault is that? If you aren't ready to accept the consiquesnces, or to play against the big Boys, stay in PVE or in the PvP. Leave the GvG to those of us who are able to live and deal with winning and defeat. We minght not like it anymore then the next group, but we are prepared to learn from it and move on.

I thought it was a high-ranked guild that would make a new guild with the same players and earn lots of Faction points playing low-ranked guilds. Then when they get high they just start all over.

If thats the case then why does'nt the point system only give one point per win based on the fact that a guild can only get one point against another guild? They can fight them all they want but they can only get one victory. The point can be taken from them if they lose to that very guild.

This way the point system is porportioned to the amount of actual guilds in play.

Real rankings can come about from real challenges and stats can prove a winning guild is just that. Christ, baseball has been around long before common use of computers and even THEY kept accurate stats on just about EVERYTHING. There's no reason why players and guilds cannot have accurate stats to reflect their success.

From what I can see this ladder seems to be a farce.

That is completely untrue for sure. Back in beta days when they first introduced the ladder....a few guilds did this exploit to climb the ladder. ANet quickly recognized this a clamped it down.

As for creating second/third guilds...I think it is more likely some of the members got bored and want to find some new excitment to play eachother. Not necessarily with malevolant intentions to 0wn noobs guilds. Heck..look at n0/p0 and the different WAR guilds....they are all in top 20 range.

Actually thats exactly what happens. Otherwise we wouldnt see guilds jump from rank 100 to top 5 in a matter of a few hours, or getting 10 matches in 45 mins at the top of the ladder.

Hopefully, the system will get fixed some time soon.

Umm no ? You cant do that simply because the new faction system is made to specifically counter that sort of stuff. When you quit and rejoin a guild it'll take you 14 days to come back to full faction gaining. So the first day you switched you'll earn 1/14 th, second day 2/14 th etc... untill you reach 14/14 thus 100%. Also climbing the ladder to reach a top 25 spot is quite easy, you slam down hard on low level teams and as you're still low start fighting the higher ranked teams. This gives you alot more points than a normal battle. I think people who slam the GvGers are just jealous they can't get a decent strategy going and are stuck in the 200 or 300 spots.

imo, who really cares what rank a guild is on the ladder, there is no bonus at being on the top, as long as i am in a good guild that can go to tombs and have fun, thats all that matters.

Nope, it's sure not, since the only type of battle you can get against a SPECIFIC guild is an unranked one. unranked = practice = no ladder change.

I don't even GvG as my guild at the moment is a small bunch of friends from another game of less then 8 people. And the fact that since I left my old defunct guild, was top 80 btw, I haven't had any interest in GvG battles. Which is also fine because I hated being around all the arrogant "competetive PvP" pricks like you.

And GvG farming does exist at the top, the same way most of the top alpha and current guild have exploited bugs out the ass to win in HoH since day 1. What's Anet going to do about it? They'd have to ban most of the remaining "flagship" guilds that haven't already quit the server because they didn't get UAS.

I don't think anyone got the right to speak about how those people "GvG farm" unless they are within the top 100 range (where they can actually go up against the top 10).

The only thing that is a bit troubling is that most of those guild have 3 different guild so they can have different group working toward different build at the same time, and was done thx to players not being able to practice within the same guild against each other. (since their averge player online are high, if they want to all play GvG without too much drama inside the same guild... it is a must) The result, 1 same guild hold 3 spots in the ladder. So you can actually say, 100th rank is actually more like the 70th top guild.

Oh if you were to say they farm sigil all day... yes some guild does indeed farm sigil all day... tomb require alot less skills than GvG... tomb require alot more luck than GvG. Then the rest of the tomb is just knowing how to abuse the map with certain things.

GvG farmers are teams that play alot of gvg, but gain most of their rating from fighting teams much lower ranked than them. Basically they fight a bunch of 'sure wins' and get the +3 rating each time, rather than fight equally ranked teams and risk a loss. They can avoid other teams by checking their vent servers or other known hangouts and figure out when they're online and when they're in matches, and avoid searching while those teams are also searching for matches. They still do random battles, they arent technically exploiting or anything, but they are entering those matches with the intent of farming lower ranked guilds for rating, which is fairly easy to do near the top of the ladder.

Take my guild for example, we're rank 12th on the ladder currently. We know that there are very few guilds (mostly in the top 10) who can beat us. If we wanted to farm gvg, all we'd have to do is figure out which guilds are playing out of the ones we know we might lose to, then stagger our match starts so that we dont get them in a match. Anyone else we got in random match would be basically a sure win. Now, we dont do this, but i've seen guilds who do.. One of which is quite well known.

No, you can organise a ranked battle with another guild.
