When does the BWE start and other BWE related questions

The BWE will begin this Friday, April the 15th. The exact time is unknown and no one will know exactly when it is until the servers go open. In the past this tends to happen around midnight, pacific standard time or GMT-8 (where Seattle and, thus, ArenaNet headquarters is located), the night before.

ive allways had to work on the fridays that the beta begins.

i live on the east coast of the us.

thus 3 hours behind of pacific times.

does beta start at 3am or 3pm on friday for me?

2:00 am for me, and i am central, i assume 3:00 am for you.

Here is why there is so much confusion.
"Our final Beta Weekend Event begins in just hours − 12:01 a.m. PDT/8:01 GMT Friday."
This is posted at www.guildwars.com The problem is that 12:01a.m. PDT and 8:01a.m.GMT do not happen at the same time.

12PDT = 7GMT
12PST = 8GMT

It all comes down to someone forgetting the conversion when switching to daylight savings. Putting all this aside I am hoping that the following site is accurate. http://www.msu.edu/~nordhou1/gw/countdown.html If this is correct it will open at 3:01 a.m. Central Time.

I am on the west coast and it is now about 5:00 PM PDT while the clock has 8 hours to go instead of 7 hours

ok im sorry if i sound like an idoit but im really confused. i live on the east coast so when does the beta event start for me?

the countdown clock should strike 1 hour to go when it starts.

it is now 5:20 west coast time and it will start at midnight my time zone in 6 hours and 40 minutes

regardless of what time zone your in, go to the OT forum and look at the "Count Down Agin" thread.

Edit: hmmm people are saying that timer is of by one hour. I dont know, im too damn lazy to test it myself.Now that i know that i think i will try and sign on at 2:00 am.

Do they bring it up on-time? Or is it a tad late? Just curious before I wake up at 3AM. Also, how long will DL's take? Few minutes? 30, 40? Ill only have a hr to kill, either 3-4 or 3:30 - 4:30.

Depends on how much they're trying to get in at the last minute. Sometimes its a little late so I'd just plan on that. 3:30-4:30 for you. Just hope its running by that time.

Download times vary. If you are on dial up and haven't played at all yet you should expect a few hours before you can actually play. DSL or cable usually go much quicker and will have you up and going in no time.

This is my first beta weekend, so I wasn't sure how it worked. Does anyone know when it ends for sure? On the official site it said that it ended at Midnight on Sun. the 17th, and since the same article said it started at midnight on Fri the 15th, I was wondering if that meant midnight Sat night/Sun morning, or if it lasts throughout the whole Sunday. Just wondering how it's worked in the past or if anyone knows. Thanks.

ALL day ...Friday, Saturday, and Sunday..... Hence 12:01am friday..to 12am sunday

Thanks. Just wanted to make sure. I've seen 12:01 listed as the start time in most articles, but the article that confused me a bit said it started at midnight on the 15th and ended at midnight on the 17th. Thanks again.

Site says 12:01AM FRI, countdown makes it 1:01AM Fri pacific time, so is it 12 or 1 ARGH

I know this may be a dumb question, but this is my first BWE and I made my character and it was loading Ascalon City and the download toke forever and it still isn't done. I do have AOL for an internet provider but i was downloading it for 1-3 hrs and it only got to 10%. Is there anything i can do to speed it up? I would really like to play in the BWE before the game comes out.
