Return of an Exploit?

Only moments ago while in Piken square with my ranger, I saw someone advertising Althea's Ashes for 100g, now it had come to my attention that this was fixed to where even if you sold the ashes, they wouldn't work to finish your quest off. Apparently I have been mistaken.

I told them that the bug had been fixed, as I thought it clearly had, they laughed and said it worked and they had sold two other things of ashes earlier in the day. Can someone explain to me what is going on? I have screens of this as well, and am tempted to report them for exploit abuse...

I thought it was fixed as well, but I haven't tested it out yet. Once I get my other char to that quest, I'll make sure and test it.

When I last did the Ashes Quest, the family Urn was replaced by Ashes after I completed the Quest. Perhaps this is what is being sold? I trashed my Ashes as they were eating an inv. slot, so I don't know if they will complete the quest or if you actually need the Family Urn...

I don't know, but if they somehow made yet another bug, I do hope they fix it, its pathetic to sell them off because people are too lazy to try it themselves...

Is a 2,000 exp reward quest / 100 gold profit (from selling the ashes), really such a big deal? If it doesn't affect you personally, why bother?

Exactly. Let ArenaNet deal with those who deal in this business. Just as long as they are aware of any problems...they can look into it.

As for the people who buy them, they are either missing out on a great quest or losing some gold.
Either way, they are the losers!

I still have to do this quest with my monk and warrior characters. I'm waiting until i can be bothered with it though. Just like alot of the earlier quests, there are too many idiots to make attempting these at earlier levels somewhat enjoyable.
I prefer to do second time around quests solo, since the first time had too much stress.

Just some kid getting greedy I'm sure, but still, just the same, its like the guy trying to get people to pay him 20 gold to see some perverted animation -_-; It's the principal of the matter of how... just... wrong it seems o_o;

I got two for free for my girlfriend and I, the day before the patch. We used them that night. I'll have to try again with my other new character and see if the ashes work, after all...its only 100g lost if they don't...

I was on earlier with a friend and a few people on the Europe side were selling Ashes for 2,000gp (in between the "this is a scam" posts)...

The quest really isn't even that hard at all. Just get a decent group and you might die one time once you are at the altar. The mobs on the way there are really easy. I'm not sure what the huge fear of this quest is brought on by.

Before the monsters where bunched up ALOT more, now they are in groups of four which can be pulled & killed with relative ease.

I bought one of the Ashes awhile ago (don't know when it was patched) and it worked perfectly fine. If they haven't changed it recently, then it most definately isn't a scam.

Its fixed for new people getting the quest, but if you had it and still didnt complete it its still works. I wish they would just drop the one ashes so people like myself who just GAVE it to someone back there to be rid of it don't get stuck with an extra one.
