How does everyone feel about monks offering their services for money?
I mean, they did go through the trouble of making their monks so maybe some sort of reward is justified.
Then again, they are rare to find and should join the spirit of the game and help out others.
What do you guys think?

Paying an experieced team leader/mission guide is much more worthwhile than paying a Monk (unless that Monk is also leading you through the mission). A good player playing anything bringing Alesia will be able to get you through just as good if not better than paying a Monk that may keep you alive but doesn't know where to go or how to fight the given enemies.
That being said, rather than paying people consider looking for a good active guild who can help you with tactics/strategies or firepower if needed to get past whatever you're stuck on.

Hey guys!
I've always kind of felt that a player's "role" so to speak...was one that he felt like playing...and one that he found to be rewarding when playing with friends and as evinced by community support of his actions.
I mean...he can always ask
and we can always say no
It always was and always will be the community that will allow this or not...
And we will choose to pay or not...
Hey guys...whatever happenned too the NHL?

A monk asking for payment is like an elementalist asking for 5 platinum for their nuking services. It's just stupid and immature. The problem is that while one can survive without a competent nuker or tank, healing is almost always a necessity. Not much we can do about it unless we report every single mercenary monk to A-Net........

I too would never take any sort of "payment" for my services. I may be crucial to the group's survivability sometimes, but so are all classes. I think that any monk who demands a wage for their services is greedy and that people should ignore them and find a real monk.
Addition: Besides, I was under the impression that all group members got paid anyway. Everyone in a group gets a share of the gold and the loot as assigned by the server.

lol, and what if this monk has all the money in the world...but...he charges simply because he IS the best!
And...after him giving demo of his services to yer party...you all realize...in secret terror..that he IS the best~!
And that this monk...this mercenary so to speak...could give you those wins!
A few more notches in the belt...
Gosh maybe a rung on the ladder!
heh, scary huh

And just because "he is the best" doesn't mean he needs to be paid. As a monk, I find the best reward in my profession is the knowledge that I've done such a damn good job and not played-up my skills or abilities. Just the fact that I've done my part and we've come out on top is good enough for me, the thrill of victory and the spirit of co-operation.
Of course, some people don't see it that way. I call those people penny-pinchers.

... come to think of it. It is hard to find a human monk on the last stages of the game. Very hard.
Hey guys!
Cooperation, teambuilding, community and friends...all great reasons to play...and even greater reasons to understand why we crave diversity as well as a mixture of different playing styles and the success that non-
mainstream thinking can give to enjoyable gaming.
lol, this is why when a monk approaches me and offers his services for money
I politely decline.
Why?
Simply because his playing style is incompatible with mine, lol, and not cuz he's a criminal.
Cheers!

When I see an opportunity to make some extra chump change, I may as well exploit it. Most of you would, too. No amount of blacklisting or outspoken criticism is going to change the fact that there are not enough monks to go around, and desperate groups are willing to compromise. Sorry.
Just think of it as another money sink
