NUMBER one thing this game is lacking

IMO i think this game is lacking social contact.

Ok before you flame me let me just say that i am againist pvp the way it is now. i dont like it but thats MY OPINION. ok now on with the book im about to write

The gameplay aspect is dull. The mobs and map size is fine but the party is not. Sure 8 ppl is fine for a party but everything else in the map is computer controlled. No other human characters walking around killing stuff. In most other games its a actually world with random parties or even ppl soloing monsters. There would be no pvp here so dont worry about a lvl 2 person running into a god lvl20. But atleast you can walk around the map and actually be with other people and fight monsters together. The only place you ever see ppl are towns. and your not there for long.

Okokokok i know what your saying. BUT OMG HE STOLE MY KILL WTF MAN. so we dont have this in all areas. basically we could have this in temple of ages. or hell maybe a place even tougher than that. What we need is SOMETHING to interact and play along with each other, other than a party.

Random pvp would be great. Just one big map and anybody any lvl can enter and either sit around the safe zone talking or just go out in the battlefield and fight random ppl. you dont get anything for winning other than fame and maybe a ear (I LOVED EARS IN DIABLO) and when you die you respawn in the safe zone. NOW THATS PVP. its fun, no uber characters dominating since most people will be lvl 20 anyway.

They need to finish that god damn temple of ages though. theres like 3 gods who dont have missions yet. FOW and UW= boring after you beat them.

ya this has been my main problem the whole time....though I doubt there is anything they can do about it. Giving every party their own instance of the map allows you to keep a control on spawn killing, XP leaching, and Drop steeling. I've been talking to a buddy about this and doing a district style world map might help with the problem. It's a bit discouraging to walk out into the 'world' and not see a damn thing.

They stated numerous times everywhere that this was an instanced game, did you expect it not to be?

I knew it, and I admit, It does get kinda boring not interacting with people and gaining friends easier. I however do not like the ideas of adding other game's aspects to GW.

PVP is balanced. Simple. Your ideas are in no way balanced what-so-ever. Gankfest.

The clue is in the name, Guild Wars.

If you're not in the Guild, it may aswell just be any single player game on the market that can be linked to the internet. If you're in a (good) Guild, then it's great

Guys.....I agree with the premise here. I miss the open-ended concept of other mmo's......the problem here is that if GW made it open ended like this, then people would be complaining about long load times, Kill stealing, camping, and every other downside of today's mmorpg's.

It's a catch-22.

They will never have it where everyone is in the same world when questing, it would require a major revamp of the program to run like WoW (Big expense). My best suggestion would be to play WoW if you wanted that type of game. Cause GW always stated this is what you would be getting. And if nothing was instanced their server farms would be costing ALOT more to keep that kind of bandwidth and processing power going. Then it won't be a $50CDN one time fee game anymore. It's great the way it is.

Maybe if they had something to do in town besides form a group and sell yer loot, there would be more social interaction. Perhaps some form of in-town mini games, or a tavern to hang out in, something to give us a social atmosphere in town? I mean, for a "Role-Player" character, I see absolutely zero roleplaying going on. How about a little bit of fun outside of killing?

I don't understand how this could work. We'd have to have respawning enemies, and god knows I hate that. It'd also require that there be multiple districts of areas outside of towns, such that a group could avoid the common ganker. Overall, I don't see this working effectively or to any positive value. Sure, we feel a bit lonely just running around outside, but it's really not all that hard to find a group to give the instances some flare.

This game will never be as big as WoW in terms of PvE missions. That would mean monthly fees for all. Suddenly it's unfair to those who came for the strategic PvP.

This is fine. PvP is balanced, PvE is constantly improving.

we have sooo many emotes. why not add a few more like /sitinchair /sip /laydown /drink

we could have a tavern in towns like someone else said and maybe a guild hall THAT ACTUALLY HAD STUFF like tables, chairs, etc......

I think that Guild Halls MUST be customizeable. Also, there should be a way to invite people not in your guild over to your guild hall (only officers and leaders) to show off or have them participate in minigames you have going there. Or for scrimmages.

There is a good way to add content and community.

This provides a "stage" for RPers to do whatever they do, and a great place for practice matches or just hanging out and selling stuff.

To me the only thing I would like to see is more things like the catacombs in pre-searing. More interior spaces to explore like castles, dungeons, caves, catacombs, etc.... Some areas could be quest or mission based, but some could be for the pleasure of exploring or getting skill points, loot, or elite skills.

This is the number one thing to me....

I'm absolutely with you Darkest Dawn.

That's what I'm wanting as well.

I come from EQ and occasionally I miss the grander scope of an MMO with people everywhere and free emotes and actions. I miss swimming in the water and falling off the platforms in Kelethin.

I can live without those for the more intense battles and graphics. What I'm finding it harder and harder to live without are the dungeons. Unrest, the Hole, even DN with the spider traps all had an atmosphere that I think is often missing in this game.

I thought the Catacombs had that feel as well but they were too simple even at a low level. I was so excited when I first seared to go and see the harder Catacombs only to find that it'd been shut down.

Yeha I totally miss the large naked dance parties while outside of town, and long to fight off hoards of spawn campers. Seriously, this is a core design decision made by Anet that makes this game unique. If you don't like go play EQ2 or WoW.

Not to mention ArenaNet is using instances as a method of cutting costs. If you want a persistant world, you're going to have to pay.

This is also a great idea! I also look for more options at both the guildhall, as well as PvP. More types of battles kinda like unreal tournament has, but GW style!

I agree with you on this aspect.
For example...the floating castle you see when you are doing the Villiany of Galrath Quest...I would like to explore that castle.
Dungeons, caves, catacombs that are meant simply for exploring for loot and random challenges sounds interesting.

This game has three levels of community:
1) The individual
2) The guild
3) Everyone else.

Compare this to DAoC, which had a fairly strong community:

1) The individual
2) The guild
3) The alliance
4) The realm
5) The server
6) Everyone else.

What Guild Wars needs to do is to stratify us somehow. Alliances would be a good start, though they really need to get rid of the Worlds at War idea and replace it with a larger number of virtual nations. Currently there is no 'reputation' in this game. People and guilds are pretty much anonymous.

Another change that should be made is they should publicize the guild rosters. One thing that allowed for creation of a social structure was the ability to contact someone's guildmaster. If a person is an ass... his guildmaster should be notified. But in this game, who cares? You'll never see the ass again, nor have to deal with his guild.

I agree, and am happy with this aspect. I'm merely talking about more things as I mentioned prior to do while in the instanced world area.

Dungeons are the easiest thing to instance there is. Much easier than a new zone because they can have a totally paralel map without taking up space.
