BestBuy Order Cancelled

I pre-ordered the Deluxe Version of Guild Wars before the March BWE, (had a ton of fun cant wait for April BWE). Deluxe Package was 65.00 and i got the Pre-order free for purchasing "both" online. When i went to BestBuy to pick up my pre-order copy, they told me you cant walk out of the store with the pre-order. Because i ordered online i had to wait for it to come in the mail. So wanting to play the March BWE i spent another $10 for the pre-order in the store. So glad i did because the 3 days playing March BWE was worth it. Then march30th BestBuy sends me an email "Billing Problem Encountered" then on April 1st an email "Order Cancelled" I never even got to read the 1st email to find out my order was cancelled. After sending BestBuy an email as to why they cancelled my pre-order...

We did not charge you for the Guild Wars Deluxe-Windows, which was never shipped. The reason the order was cancelled was because the manufacturer decided not to make a Deluxe version, and instead made Guild Wars Collector's Edition - Windows, which has different features and price from the Deluxe version.

We apologize for any inconvenience this change has caused you.

Gee.. thanks BestBuy, Just cancell my order, Dont opt for me to pay the extra 15 bucks. Now i own 2 copys of the pre-order and dont have 10 off the price of the game. I think this is Bogus.

Now that i own 2 pre-orders do i still get the BestBuy "Kathans Targe" the whole reason i bought from BestBuy, I think they should have sent me the Collectors Edition with a $15 bill, rather than cancell my Dulexe Edition and cause me to go Postal. This is the last time i pre-order anything online.

i remember a thread that was about this very thing try to search for it.

What if i opt to buy the collectors edition from someone else now, BestBuy has Royally Pissed me off. Seems like BestBuy messed up on the price, I knew 65 for the deluxe/collectors edition was too good to be true. How can they change the Name and price when its the same thing, just calling it Collectors Edition instead of Deluxe edition? Seems to me like this is BestBuys way of correcting what i think is False Advertising. Sell everyone Deluxe Edition for $65 then Change the name and Jack up the price. Not to mention cancelling my order without even talking to me.

Did this happen to just me ? Or did this happen to everyone who bought from BadBuy ?

there never was a DE from what i can gather. some stores just jumped the gun and did know what they where doing.

Oh, they sold me a Deluxe Edition.

So did BestBuy have the Deluxe Edition ? Or did this happen to compusa, gamestop and EB too ?

Ebgames change my order which was the delux to the collector's edition after Anet and NCsoft made the change.. and nothing else changed they just switched it.. odd that they wouldnt do that, guess thats why i trust Ebgame much more customer friendly.

also i believe the delux was the same as the collectors edition but the collectors now had 'Divine aura' and the delux didnt. thats the only change and this was before march BWE i believe when i pre ordered mine

mind if i ask, what they sold you the Deluxe Version for ?

from what i gather the delux version had everything the collectors edition did except for the 'Divine aura' and at the time i guess Anet had no name for it other then delux untill they added the "divine aura" then they changed it to collector's which is why ebgames im assuming changed my order over.

Did they change the price on you too ?
I understand they added the divine aura, buy my main question is why did they sell it to me for $65, then change the name and add $15 to the price ?
If BestBuy messed up the price, i think they owe me GuildWars Collectors Edition for the $65 they sold it to me for. Is this a BestBuy only messup, or did this happen to everyone @ EB, Gamestop, compusa ect..ect ?

Well, originally I pre-ordered the deluxe edition, because I was told it came with a cloth map. That freaked me out, so I put $30 down on the spot. Later I found out from GW.com that there is no cloth map, but instead divine aura. I asked about it on here and people said a lot of game stores jumped the gun and assumed the map was there.

I would blame it more on the manufacturers and developers than the store's who are providing it. From the sounds of it, no one could decide on what exactly was going to be in the delux/collectors edition so they just put out a list of things and then changed their minds later. As far as the pre-order goes I can understand why Best Buy would cancel the order, but did you actually ask them if you could trasfer over the pre-order?

I thought the collector's edition came with a Microphone(For Teamspeak), A divine aura, An Artbook.. and I think that's it. I got all of that from seeing a picture that was supposed to have all of guildwar's Collector's edition stuff in it. I'll post it if I find it again.

I was at compUSA ( store ) and if you payed them there, they jsut give you a slip for $10 off the final, and it works for collectors edition.

Best Buy people and CompUSA are not customer friendly... but EB GAMES didn't have the pre-order box when I was in there.

The suggested retail price that I've seen advertised is $79.99, +tax for the collectors' edition, so your total cost is not out of line, that I can see, unless it was supposed to be on some discounted sale price.

A. They cancelled my order in 2 days without talking to me.
B. Current email says they need 2-3 business days to find someone who can research my question as to why my $65 Deluxe Version was cancelled and what they plan to do for me regarding my 2 pre-orders.

Also free is Teamspeak overlay wich lights up the persons name that is talking. This would be very usefull in many ways as in calling targets and especialy for monks when someone shouts "I need Healing" you can tell exactly who wants to be healed.

Best Buy does this all the time, offering the "Collectors Edition" of a piece of software for the "normal" price, then canceling the order later on down the road. Personally, I think it reeks of price gouging, bait and switch, and bullshit - but mostly bullshit.

That is one of the many reasons why I didn't pre-order my Collector's Edition from Best Buy, and why I generally try to avoid shopping there as much as possible.

Best Buy is a horrible, horrible store, for more reasons than the above.

Uh huh. well I recomend you take 1 back and demand the money... Why not they were at fault and did not offer to change your option... I'd call Customer service for the online and complain remeber to say you frauded me... ( I WANT MY MONEY! )

Everyone who pre-ordered with Best Buy, get your money back and pre-order with EB Games...they're ALOT more reliable and trustworthy. I should know..I work for them *insert shameless promotion here*

If only that was true.

Ive gone to EB for years now, and have run into countless errors on their part. The most recent was for Matrix Online. I Pre-Ordered back in Oct. 2004, (Before they even advertise the whole "Pre-Order and you get into beta" deal). After careful consideration, and many months of playing, I decide to cancel the order. However, you cant cancel the order after you pre-ordered becuase they dont want peeps pre-ordering, getting a account, then cancelling. I explained this to them over the phone, but they just kept sayin the same garbage. Anyhow, im now stuck with a copy of MXO, chances are ill just auction it off on ebay.

Pre-ordering is fine, just dont pre-order months ahead of time. Pre-order when its 3 weeks away or so.
