Have the ability in game to:

Jump. Not the emote (which works just fine) but actually jump a normal distance, say no greater than 1 foot vertical and 6 feet horizontal. Being able to not get hung up on small rocks, brambles, bushes and dead bodies while fleeing would be a godsend.

Swim. Not underwater, just across the surface. Would it be game breaking to have this ability and be able to explore the many aquatic expanses?

Create simple text (speech) macros? No actions mind you (that leads to botting and the dark side) but simple group messages such as,
"Target is incoming!"
"Alesia is being eaten."
"For Balthazar's sake, RUN!"

Flag ourselves LFG. Just a little happy face icon above our heads; that means, "pick me!"

Jump/swim: Um, there are already abilities for fleeing quickly (windborne speed, sprint, etc). I don't think everyone should be able to flee quickly, especially since there are already abilities designed to slow us down. I don't want to have warriors need special abilities, str, or whatever so they can jump because of their heavy armor. I don't want to see flight spells. I don't want more counter-hexes that prevent you from jumping or swimming. I don't want waterbreathing enchantments and counter-enchantments that cause drown. All of that seems too complex for a game whose complexity is meant to be focused.

Speech macros: I'd absolutely love the ability to have speech macros. I was disappointed that I could not.

LFG: This gets abused too much. I wouldn't like it to be imped simply because many people will always leave it on, go afk with it, or be the guy who will leave mid-mission anyway. It may cut down on visible spam, but it's just as easy to send quiet invites and not advertise yourself.

Water is used to seperate areas a lot in this game. If swimming was implemented it would mean redesigning all the maps.

I think these would be great things for PvE. I always hate that when those pesky glitches happen and you can't walk on a certain area of land that you should, or there is a slight incline that just won't let you walk up. And the swiming would be great, so you don't have to go all the way down river just to get to the other side of where you started. I think this would give PvE a little more action, a little faster pace.

I want the custom face icons from Phantasy Star Online. People got VERY creative with them, it was awesome just sitting in the lobby while people displayed them. Good times....

I would like to be able to jump, swimming I don't care about so much. But jumping would be nice.

Or how about "I'm targeting <foe>", "I'm using <skill> on <foe>", "My health is <current> out of <maximum>", "I have <Enchantment/Hex> on me!", and the rest?

None of those express ideas like "Ranged players focus on the elementalist!", "Everyone retreat to the obelisk!", "One monk tend the priest but don't all go!", "Focus fire on the monk but focus interruition on the mesmer!".

Seconds count in PvP matches (and even in PvE battles) so having things macroed for team strategy is an incredibly good idea (and common feature) that allows people to effectively communicate complex ideas quickly, without having to use additional voicechat software.

As much as I would like to jump and swim... Yes, I believe it would be game breaking, if even possible at all. I seem to remember the devs stating the engine just didn't support free-motion Z axis or some jargon like that, and that it would take more fundamental re-designing to implement than is feasible for any post-release addition. And believe it or not, that's not even the biggest problem as I see it.

If you look at the design for many of the mission maps, the pathways created by walls and cliffs are those set down for you by the area designer. I can think of plenty of missions in Old Ascalon where jumping down the little cliffs of winding roads would enable you to skip tons of content. How about the forest levels where you cross a bridge over the gorge you go through much later? If people could just jump down those distances, it would be a kind of stupid shortcut (not that I'm opposed to some shortcuts through PvE, but that's another debate) and if the falling damage was scaled to be lethal, then what's the point of being able to jump? Besides messy suicide.

I don't think we should be looking at those annoying invisible cliff barriers as bugs that inadvertently snuck into the game and need to be fixed... They are borders set down by the level creator to guide the player on the intended path through the mission. Whether they look like 3-foot hurtles or solid brick walls doesn't matter.

These are solid ideas that really should have been included in release.

Unfortunately custom macros tend to be abused a lot more than they are useful. Macros would facilitate !all/$trade chat spamming, but even when they would be restricted to #party, it's just waiting for the moron W/Mo's to write up their annoying 'calling card' multi-line introduction or their 'blame the entire team' macros. Perhaps a set of predefined macros could work?

And I'd love a 'LFG' happy face, would make it very easy to pick out the well-willing player, and you could just ignore all the people spamming their LFG in caps regardless of this functionality.

Even though I'd love to be able to jump in this game, I dont think that we will ever be able to, because it would take way too much re-design of some of the maps. I agree with what DarrenJasper said above.

When I first played this game (after having played City Of Heroes for some months previously), it was frustrating not being able to jump, but it's something I stop noticing after a while.

he's right and also if you didn't notice Guild Wars isn't like most of the mmorpg that you can go everywhere and get stuck in every glitch you see. You can't even climb a small mountain that you could normaly climb in other mmorpg ( and im happy like that because that avoid people getting stuck everywhere and abuse stuff )

The up key already facilitates this. Frankly, all chat is abusable. That's no reason to take it out of the game.

I think many would miss the point of bridges. Armor counter-acts floating. That is why there are bridges, that you may not sink It would also not be fun to hold a large staff or hammer while doing so, nor elequent clothing.

I doubt swimming could be realisticaly done in anyway, for all classes would have a hard time swimming unless they dropped off their gear and took off their clothing. Which, I suppose could be done, but who wants to face a mob completely naked?

I don't really care about the jump and swim abilities, but I would never ever argue against them being implemented. I don't think they would in any way detract from the game. I like the LFG idea, but there should be a lfg channel. If it's turned on, then perhaps you could see the lfg flag over people, if it's turned off everyone just appears as normal.

On the topic of swimming... perhaps it could be a skill. This would make it valuable since you'd have to sacrifice a skill slot to be able to use it, and odds on a whole party using it would be slim. Not to mention that you'd have to look for a way out of where you're swimming.

No! Because jumping and swimming would messed up their path find. They would had to redefine the whole path finding system. Cmon, you never wonder why things like small rocks are logical passable but unpassable in the game?

Bah! I like the gastropod's idea better than mine regarding this lol~! A channel would be most likely the more "elegant" solution to the current LFG debacle.

Regarding jumping, I was taken a bit out of context;
I wasn't clamoring for a way to bypass content or gain an unfair advantage, but rather there are multitudes of places in Tyria where you "snag" on the geometry as you attempt to run by, around, or through.

Could this function be offered in a limited way to allow us to otherwise overcome this non-game destroying phenomenon?

Example:
Out running across the wastelands of Post searing Ascalon, I will often round a corner and "stick" to invisible geometry. The NPCs will then run up and clamor around me, freezing me in place. At this point, one of two things occurs:

a.) I have to "bump" into the NPCs using the sidestep keys and hope they will move a little, allowing me to escape and continue.

b.) A charr patrol comes around the corner and attacks, and stuck fast, I cannot escape their assault or counterattack properly; typically yielding fatal results.

This is not intended as a "game breaking" modification, but as a minor "adjustment" allowing you to resolve the occasional design idiosyncrasy.
