This spell is rather useful and is much needed as a low level mesmer. Instead of waiting to get to Yaks Bend you can just travel to Sardelic Saniterium and get this spell for a relitively easy quest. Sardelic Sanitarium is a great place to get alot of useful mesmer skills like energy burn, conjure phantasm, and energy tap.

This in conjunction with Fire Storm can wipe out a group in a matter of seconds.

When it says

"drains 1-6 Energy whenever it strikes a foe casting a spell"

it means drains energy from your oponent and gives it to you, right? I want to clarify this, just to be sure.

In GW terminology "drains" means your enemy loses it. "Steals" means it takes it from the enemy and gives it to you.

Chaos Storm is a great spell, but you won't be gaining any energy for casting it, alas.

Bah that sucks. Not a completely worthless attack but I'm looking for things that give mana or steal it since I'm an elementalist primary....rather cast some other spells for the damage.

It has it uses in PVP though, but that 30 second recharge would seem like a drag.

Very handy if you see elementalist casting any slow casted spell (like fire storm) put this on it and soon he has no energy at all... This drains that 6 energy/second.

This drains that 6 energy/second. good point.. like you said, fire storm has double this casting time. But why not just use a power spell? (power leak, power spike.. etc)
