A newb question

Okay so I'm one of those noobs that says screw armor until I can get armor I plan on using for a while, anyway I got to that point (I still had start armor) and I bought my new armor.

So I put it all on and I'm like oh yeah, I put some minor runes in my start armor. Now I THOUGHT you could salvage them out but it says "cannot be salvaged" now is this because it's start armor or because you just can't do it.

If it's because it start armor is it because it's a glitch or we're just not meant to salvage it out.

No big loss or anything just kinda curious, if it's a glitch I'll just hold on to them and salvage out when they fix, if not I'll sell now.

The pre-searing start armor? No, you can't salvage it or sell it. Into the trash can it goes.

But other armor you can?

I can understand not letting us salvage start armor because it would give us materials but it should just give us the same chance to salvage out the rune and if you don't get the rune you don't get anything.

You can salvage all other armor, just not that starter armor. Even collector armor can be salvaged now.

I think they did this to stop people from just creating new characters and then selling/salvaging their armour for gold/materials. in any case you should be able to get new runes quickley enough from the rune trader.

I guess they figured people wouldn't put runes on starting armor.

You can salvage, but not sell, collector armor. You can salvage OR sell armors that you purchased from the crafter. I got 21 bolts of cloth back from one of my robes. It helped me have the last bit of cloth to make my gloves!

And I have never put runes onto my starting armor. I *do* buy the best armor available in Ascalon and wear it until I hit the desert. I usually put at least minors on that. Then, I use collectors to get the basic version of the highest armor level before I face my mirror. If I salvaged out any of my minors, I use them on that armor. Then I purchase a set of armor in Droknar's based on what "extra" I want on it. (Fire, Air, bla, blah, blah) That's the armor I have been putting majors and superiors into. *IF* I can ever afford any of the 15k armors, I hope the runes will salvage, but if they don't, I'll buy new ones.

Oh, and I dye just about every set along the way!

about 1k gold in runes or who knows how much in constant upgrades.

I'm a ranger it's not like I'm tanking, I got 37 consecutive wins in shiverpeaks arena only died twice during that with my armor, WE'VE BEEN THROUGH A LOT.

I already bought new runes to put in my new armor.

Now where is my weapon upgrade trader .

Lol! I like to customize my stuff too. My armors have a lovely (expensive) shade of pink made by mixing one red and one silver. I always buy my dyes from the trader because I have no patience for "WTB Red and Silver dyes" all day long. I'd rather be out killing things wearing my metallic pink armor!

I think you can't salvage any armor while you WEAR it. Drag 'n' drop it into your inventory, THEN salvage it.

(Except if it's the starter armor, which can't be salvaged at all.)
