Guild Hall Battles

okay ,ive searched the forums but cannot find the answer to the beginner question i have.

We have just aquired a guild hall and have challenged two other guilds. The first one we one and have no idea how or why. The second one we lost and we're still a little confused.

What exactly is the mission to complete to win it ? It seems like its a capture the flag kinda thing but i dont know.

Also , the last team we played with , we couldnt open their gate(s) but they could open ours.

Not totally confused , but just a tad heh-heh

Any information on the who , what , where , and why's would be deeply appreciated.

The capturing of flags on the GvG maps is only used for the Morale Boost - It isn't part of the winning objective (though certainly it factors into some of the more prominent strategies, such as camping the flagstand and DP'ing the other team out.) Rather, the objective to win is simply to defeat the enemy's Guild Lord. You can ignore the other team entirely (not that I would recommend it, but the point remains the same...) so long as you can put down that one NPC, you will win.

LOL, it is a little disconcerting to not know what the other team is saying, but to be fair, we english speaking folk do it to the non-english too.

Although the original question has been answered, i have a question about guild battles too.

Now you said the only thing you have to do is kill their guild lord, right?

So is this capture the flag deal the only kinda guild battles that there is?
If not what other kinda guild battles are there?

In each Guild Battle, you'll have a flag and a stand to put it in. If you can get your flag to the stand and keep it there for 2 minutes, you get a morale boost, the for each additional 2 minutes you get another. The object is to kill the opposing teams guildlord. There are no other forms of GvG.

i suppose there's a prefered place to fight as well as a disliked area , right ?

Like the forest setting is my favorite and the ice island is the least liked

still new though and havent seen all the others so i can say for sure........lol

ive fought in 3 battles, and they were all in the same hall (our home hall)... is the hall selected always one of the guild's halls or is it completely random?

On a side note, a little after guild wars came out, i started visiting this site and although these are my first posts, i have found this site to be one of the most hopeful and that is the reason i registered. Thank you to those who put this site together.

i fought a guild in their hunter's isle guild hall. for some reason, they can enter our gates, but we couldnt enter theirs? why is that?

To open your enemy's gates you have to bring your thief NPC to pick their locks.

Guild Thief my man Guild Thief. You need that npc to open the gates.
