As far as the trader being implemented, I think it will take time to settle in, but should be a nice improvement. I have no interest in trying to "out spam" children in trade chat in order to buy or sell a rune. Now I can keep trade permanently off, and never have to read "WTB GODLY YELLOW MAX DAMAGE FIERY SWORD!!!! NO NOOB OFFERS!!11!!1!" again.

Thanks Anet.

I LOVE this patch. Soon people will begin to realize that there's more to GW than farming.

Its a good addition, it gives a base price for people to judge the items worth from. It cuts down the amount of time required to get some nice bonuses for you character, remember that this is an rpg focusing on player skill above time played. Its easier than looking at trade spam for the rune you need too.

Without this the huge ammount of gold that people will generate over time would cut off runes for casual players completly because of the inflated prices. As its said on other replies the dye merchant hasn't stopped players selling dyes it's just curbed the price that they can charge for them.

People are still trying to get rich? If you been trying to get rich and haven't hit the max gold cap on all your characters and on storage you are doing a really bad job.

This is not Trade Wars. This is Guild Wars. If you're quitting GW because you can't overcharge or hoard tons of stuff then I say good. The game will be a better place.

This will also eliminate a lot of scamming going on and the unnecessary grind. Best update so far.

Great change.

I got to sell a bunch of minor runes for about the price I was hoping to get from spamming trade channels. Got about 160 a piece for them.

There's still a market to get better prices. Do we still see crafting material advertised.. dyes.. etc? Of course we do, now we just have a choice to get less and not spend hours spamming channels, or pay more and not go searching. Now I can play the game and not spend my time staring at a trade screen. Absolutely great change.

There's still the option to sell under the rune trader's cost, or buy under the rune trader's cost... same way everything else in this game has worked.

I'm really sick of this attitude all over the place. The game is never for the better when a player leaves the community.

Well... perhaps not never. But not someone who feels that they are trying to help the community, or is interested in becoming an active member of the community, but is trying to point out what is perceived as flaws.

For the love of god people, let the 'holier than thou' attitude rest.

You know if you don't want people buying from the rune seller just don't sell to it *gasp* they will go out of stock. This won't really happen though because most people don't care if they sell to the rune seller or not.

Everyone who likes this patch is because it just made everything easier for them to get, but what they don't realize is once they have everything, the game loses interest, as it has for me.

man i have to agree with both statements, although i never had any interest in pvp anyway. i'm waiting on the update to further the story line of the game - on one hand i'm glad because i can get out and do other things than sit here addicted to GW =)

You can only buy what you've unlocked. Not unlocked, not available to you.

So now those who farm runes to sell, just don't ID them. Sell them unid'ed and tell them that they're running a gambit with getting one they've id'ed or not.

errr, sorry Oni No Arashi, but your logic isnt quite right. I just bought a major rune of marksmanship off the trader and equipped it to one of my armor pieces even though i've never found or unlocked such a rune. Looking at my attributes screen it DID indeed take effect.

The only thing they are doing there is warning you that by buying a rune from the trader your not unlocking it for your account only making it availiable to wear.

There should be a market for un-id'ed runes however, now more then before, since people are going to be more likely to pay more for an un-id'ed item if theres any chance at all it will unlock somthing for thier account

Yeah, I have unlocked a superior vigor AND a major swordmanship.. neither are for sale to me. As a matter of fact only TWO major Warrior runes are for sale compare to four for Rangers. Bit unfair.

I have to agree that this is a good patch. I'm just LAUGHING my arse off at all the people saying it's ruined their day. What's betting they log on, farm all day, sell the runes and make loads of money they can then gloat with. Lol I think it's great. Bout time some of those people were taken down a peg or two. Seriously, runes like major vigor or absorption or even beast mastery still cost loads at the trader. Over 15K for major beast mastery at one point.

I think the best part of this patch is it's going to give runes an actuall value. No more people trying to sell minors for 700 and no more people being scammed for superiors. It'll make things a whole lot more balanced for the people who enjoy the game.
Seriously, I don't know what some people's facination is with being rich all the time. True, once you buy your armor, your weapons and your runes.. I really don't know what those people then find to spend their 100 plat on. It's much better to work hard for each thing you buy. I know since I found and sold my superior vigor for 75K, that money has become slightly worthless. I can almost afford all the 15K armor straight away.

I do hope that all those people with the attitudes "This game is RUINED now" leave, I'm sorry to say it. They're only in these games to be mob bosses and control the market and I'm glad the lesser people will have a shot at things now. People with over 100K are still a minority in this game. The patch allows people to enjoy it from the start.
As for all the lvl 20's with their armor and weapons etc.. I do understand cos at the moment I'm struggling to find things to buy lol. The drive to purchase is a big one, I don't know what it is. There's something satisfactory about purchasing something and making it your own. To those people I say, branch out a bit. If you use a sword then buy a base hammer and create your own hammer. Especially if you're a W/E like myself, get a specified hilt or whatever and switch your atts and skills to a different element. The makers of this game have introduced so many different varieties of skill it's unbelievable. The people who are moaning about the patch are either lazy, or they just want the best armor, the best sword.. and then to go beat the living crap outta everything.

I don't want to assume or have false hopes, but I do hope there will be expansion packs. Maybe playing the game from the perspective of another race (such as dwarves) or just a basic add on that has extras such as deeper character developement. What I would love to see is not more professions, (I don't know if you can even think up a new one that's not like the others) but a chance to learn a skill from a different profession. Be a W/R and learn how to conjure bone minions. Be a Mo/Me and have a pet. Be a N/E and use a sword. Go to a skills academy and learn basic, intermediate and mastery in these skills. Make it HARD. Of course, everyone is gonna wanna learn to heal or res, but limit it to three skills. And seeing as this is "Guild Wars" I don't think there will be the risk of more soloing because of this.

I personally love the tactics and skill involved in this MMORPG. Make your own weapons, move around your attributes, capture your own skills. To add more logic would make this game a real good community because it would attract those who are willing to work in teams and co-operate and who find satisfaction in more than just money.

Anyway people I don't know if this is at all possible, but if the new patch is a complete bollocks up failure... they can just remove it, right?

There's hope for you grinders yet

I see the confusion. It's a miscommunication on Anet's part. You can only purchase, or sell, a rune that's id'd by "someone". It doesn't have to be you. I just purchased a sup healing rune from the trader. I've never unlocked it prior, and it's still not unlocked.

ArenaNet is trying to make the game "farming" free, so I don't see how people that farm all day so they can be rich contribute very much to the community.

Thats the supply and demand wheel at work there mistress. There were 4 major warrior runes when I looked. I watched minor vigor runes go from the point where the trader simply wouldnt accept them anymore because there were to many to her being out of stock in about a span of 10 mins or less.

I think its safe to say warriors are a very common class

bugger

But I still don't get this "Unlocked and it's available" If that's true then where's me major swordmanship. It's the only blasted one I want!
