except when it comes to anti-aliasing. GW has such well done gfx that anti-aliasing can be turned off, and you would need a magnifying glass or a 50 inch monitor to see any difference between on/off.
So, if you go with an nVidia card, turn anti-aliasing off.

Sorry, but this is only half correct. Antialiasing looks better on ATI cards in this game, yes, but only marginally. This is because Guild Wars is an ATI GITG (Get In The Game) title.
Look at the antialiasing in an Nvidia TWIMTBP (The Way It's Meant To Be Played) title and you'll say the opposite, but again, the difference is marginal. Telling him to "turn off AA on Nvidia" is absurd, as it still looks so damn good.
Either way, the
very slight difference in antialiasing quality is not enough to justify the difference in performance. The X850 XT PE is the
only ATI X-Series card to outperform Nvidia Geforce6 series cards, and even then it's because the X850 XT PE doesn't even have an Nvidia counterpart and costs over €500, far outside the opening poster's budget.
Simply put, the best card for his money is either a 6600GT or 6800GT, depending on how much he's willing to spend. Period. This is a non-biased and non-prejudgemental piece of advice. The 6600GT costs far less than his budget, the 6800GT costs around his budget, and both far out-perform their ATI counterparts (the ATI Radeon X700 Pro and X800 Pro respectively.)

Note: The above (above the quote
