And really it depends what you are looking for out of a game. Many War Craft III players could comprehend how GuildWars works, WOW was the natural progression, basically "War Craft IV."
GuildWars is a mold breaker so it comes down to you being ready for a rather drastically different gaming experience. A gaming experience that isn't built upon how well the game can capture your desire for tedium, but is designed to help your character become ready to face challengers from all over the world, or, be a great explorer of a vast uncharted world. Oh and how'd you like to be able to die and not lose anything?
Just imagine being able to have reasonable armour, resonable weapons, and be comfortable in using the skills you have, within a month at worst from when you start playing, all without chopping wood, cooking swordfish, mining coal and ore, scamming, pk'ing in the wild, or having to have 32 quest points (runescape). And without trying to mine 500 iron ore to get timber vouchers you exchange with 3 million gold for a housing permit because you wanna get married to double your exp as it is so hard to get at level 100 (conqueronline) in a pk anywhere environment where all the elite people walk in to the mines and kill everyone there every 15 minutes.
Game after game whether f2p or monthly fee they have you doing myriad tasks to gain the rite of passage through a cubed exp curve (

) to kill the big game even if for at least 30 levels you have been stronger than what you wanna go hunt but just couldn't get to because of some exp counter somewhere, or, my favorite, having lost your weapon which destroys your ability to level until you replace it (at least 30k of gold) and you got 3 grueling levels to go as it is before you can wear some elite chain armour (50-450k of gold) so you don't die in one hit from the big baddies, which, if you don't have the "anti-dragon" shield, if it's a dragon, you'll likely die anyway, etc. etc. etc.
All these wonderfully designed lemming makers are non-existent in GuildWars.
It's designed around the player having fun, to have fun beause of what you can do now and the missions you help you become better right from the start. Another reason the game is a 10 for sure.
