Game cards? I thought we talked about this...

I know this has both been posted and talked about before, but I have to ask.

I went to EB games last night to preorder Oblivion which is coming out on may fourth, and he noticed my pre-order fro GW on the computer so he asked me about it. He ended up mensioning 'game cards' coming out shortly after release. Now, the last time this was talked about, there were a few conclusions drawn:

1. This is not true.
2. These cards will unlock access to special areas.
3. These cards are required to play Guild Wars (cards still aren't monthly fees).

I don't see why this would keep popping up, at more than one gaming store anyways, if there wasn't 'something going on'. Any ideas?

how about they are listening to rumors and dont know what they are talking about

all store employees are complete idiots, i asked someone about the collectors edition yesterday and they said they had no idea what i was alking about( this was at EBgames) and when i told him about it he actually told me it didnt exist till i told him to look it up on the computer. he then said oh sorry it will be an aditional 50$ as it was a 100$ to buy. i then fought with him that it should only be 80$, anyways long story short theyre all imbeciles

Oblivion is coming out that soon? Woa... Talk about sneaking up on me! I'll probably buy it, but with Guild Wars... I'm not sure anymore.

My thoughts too. elderscrolls.com doesn't even have the date posted. Nowhere easily visible anyways. I found out because I told EB Games to tell me when they first heard of it. That was a month or two ago, and I dove into GW to quench my gaming needs until Oblivion and Zelda until they told me they just got word of it. May 04, 2005. I think I'll be too busy playing GW to even bother with Oblivion, which is a shame really. I'll still get it though. Eventually.

Exactly. Next time you hear something like this, please. Tell them to go to http://guildwars.com/ and ask them if they see ANYTHING about.. whatever-the-hell-it-is-they're-lying-out-their-asses-about... and when they don't, I want you to take out a white glove, fill it with sand, and smash his face with it and then yell "I challenge you to a duel for being incompetant!"

It is/will be for XBox 2 and PC. Perhaps it's coming for PC first? Maybe Xbox 2 is on its way out? Who knows!

According to the official FAQ there is no release date yet.
As to Guild Wars cards, I've never heard of them before.

According to http://news.spong.com/detail/news.asp?prid=8229, XBOX 2 will come out late 2005. This is just a guess, though. It just says that EA plans to release their newest Need For Speed Underground, which is plan to ship latte this year, for the XBOX 2.

Wo! How much is the GW Game CD going to cost?

GW most likely 50 bucks.Special Edition is 70 or 80 bucks.The 5 or 10 bucks you spend for the preorder goes towards the Total cost of the game.Ask the store first if the preoder also covers the special edition if thats what you are interested in.I heard that some stores preoder does not go towards the total cost of the special edition but that maybe be due to the stores misunderstanding.

some stores lock you into what you buy as a sale lockin

they call the preorder a *bonus* rather than a separate item for sale

as soon as the preorder pack goes out you cant upgrade or cancel the order

lol I had just copied that and was on my way here to post it. I went in to pre-order Oblivion and asked the first guy at EB an he was like "uhhhh.....I don't think I can do pre-orders..." so I kept walking to the second guy, and he said "oh, for which game...*types on his computer*....*types on his computer again*.....which game was it again?" So I said Oblivion, and that it would be under The Elder Scrolls. So he typed again and said, "oh, here it is. Were getting it on may fourth. How much did you want to put down?" and so through all their incompetance, it was still put in their system by someone who had to know something about what they were doing to put it there. There must be something going on if it was in their computer...

the latest i heard on oblivion (i will get it and i still have arena and daggerfall as well) is end of year at earliest

IF it were coming out in that short a time wouldnt there be just a little more advertising by the company along with reviews and such ingame magazines?

I got GW with a bonus. But i figured i wouldnt change my mind on this order.
