Guild Wars Bot Policy

We are aware that bots have been showing up within Guild Wars. You'll see them in town, spamming advertisements for websites or item sales. You might hear about them in missions, too. You can report bots through our support.guildwars.com. Character or account names, type of botting, where, when... those are details of use to us. If you know of bot makers, we'd appreciate the help gently edging them out of town by letting us know of individuals or websites advertising bots. (And if you're tempted to get a bot for your very own -- don't! Most likely it will come with that added "bonus feature," the key logger.)

Bots are clearly against the EULA and the Rules of Conduct, and as such, we will take action against those who use them. Look for a number of account suspensions in the near future.

Thank god you guys are super supportive of the game! It would be a shame to see this game become like d2. Ouch it just hurts to think about it.

Sounds great... Heck, i report anybody going against the terms of agreement in anyway i can... it annoys me that people don't even glance at them before they accept to them... but oh well, it's what bites them in the ass when they get that message "Your account has been banned"

What qualifies as a retarded name, though?

one question...if people forget to message you guys about bad names and botters and such.... is there still anyone from ArenaNet who is sitting in towns or something looking along with us, or is it just us?

Another thing.. if the botters use the program to also delete the characvters which they are botting on and then make new characters with a different name every thirty minutes or something like that.... will that sort of stop them from being targetted?

Go F**K Yourself is offensive to anyone that might either be sensitive or have their kids playing.

I'm pretty sure that's the idea at least..lol

Personally I'd rather team up with GO F**K Yourself than some idiot named Uber McOwnage or some other stupid 1337 name.. but that's a personal preference..and while retarded and offensive as that name is to me.. it doesn't violate any rules.

There was a player in the Shiverpeaks PvP arena that continually participated while never moving one inch from his starting position, causing whatever team getting him in it to be one man down from the start. My guess was this was someone who had a macro or bot hitting the 'enter mission' button automatically in order to somehow leech the experience of the few kills his team managed (the only thing I can think of, can't imagine he was doing it just to be a nuisance).

Selfish and pathetic - so this is the sort of player to report? He might still be there now, he was there for two or three days straight just joining groups over and over again.

That is indeed the sort of thing to report. I know they've nuked at least one player's character for engaging in that kind of Arena "botting", and if you don't want to see this happening all the time, it needs to get reported or it'll get more and more popular as people get away with it.

All I want to know is... what's the point? Why go to so much trouble, and risk your account, over cheating, hacking and generally causing trouble in a computer game? Where's the fun in it? I'll never understand these people...
