system meets reccomended requirements, but still lags?

i need help, okay?
i'm lagging worse than ever. it's horrible. if i hit one of the arrow keys, five seconds later, it will respond.

here's my system info...

using windows xp, dell dimension DIM2400 intel(R) celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz, 512MB RAM.
using AOL for broadband (cable) to connect.



...so WHAT IS WRONG?!
this is terribly frustrating!

I don't have the game info right here, but offhand, it's probally your Celeron.

What video card do you have? That may be it...

i believe its video card, since my work computer is much better than my home computer but it lags at work.

connection my cause this too, but i doubt it.

woah, i bet it IS the videocard!!

it gave me a message saying "your videocard sucks, do you want to continue?" something to that extent.

i'll go check the card, now...

hmm i have a similar one at work... the one at home is ATI if memory serves me right..

yeah, and it sucks. although you arent that much better off with a PCI vid card either. what's with everyone having dell dim 2400s nowadays?

your trying to run it with onboard graphics which is a DISPLAY problem

you may not like your picture but you do not get multisecond delay on a graphics issue

somewhere in your connection is the problem more likely

video memory can slow a game down significantly... I remember playing NWN (locally) with a low video memory and the response time for my actions were so slow...

true but we are talking in the 5 second timeframe lag for the action to occure and not a slow motion event of the action

That card is not even 3D accelerated...

You need someone with more power under the hood.

A GeForce FX5200 or Radeon 9250 should be ok if money is an issue... Be sure that your computer supports AGP before purchasing those...

If you have more budget, you can probable get an higher end model.

A 9250 will run the game? Doubtfully. Try a 9600.

currently, i'm still living with the parents (about to go into college) & i don't think (okay, KNOW) they'd pay for a video card that i would be the only one using.


so yeah, money is an issue.

The game supposely need at least a GeForce 3/4 MX 32 mb or a Radeon 8500

I run the game perfectly on a FX5200...

Those card can be found for less than 60$ (US)
