Greetings...

Since Guild Wars is a game based on obtaining and maintaining a guild within the game , i have a few ideas that i would like to share.

I would like to know when members of my guild logs on and off. Would it be possible to implement this idea ? Just a simple "<player name> has logged on/off " would suffice.

A timestamp would be nice. Sometimes we go AFK and someone has sent a message and nobody has no idea when they sent that last message.

Also , a Friends online/offline indicator ( like the announcement for Guild Members ) would be nice.

Thank you for your time,

I think he means a global message, not just to him.

DUH!

He means he wants a simple "Player X has logged off/on"

Which the game should have, been nice to know when friends and allies come online.

Oh, I like this idea. I know there will be some who get annoyed by this, so perhaps also include a chat filter for "Toggle on/on notifications." and only have it show when FRIENDS (in one text color) and GUILD MEMBERS (another text color) log on/off.

I do think that with the focus on guilds in GW that there should be a bit more info given within the guild screen itself, but I'm not really sold on the idea of adding the *alarm* for log in / log out. I'll give an example from my experience in other games on this becoming more of a hassle than it seems it would be:

In EQ2 I played both as a nec ( for adventuring ) and a sage ( for crafting spells ). The more people who knew of me as a sage, the worse my gaming experience became in some ways, because I wouldn't be logged in for even 30 seconds before recieving 15-20 tells asking me to make spells for people. Good for business I suppose, but bad if you felt like doing some adventuring that day. It got to a point where I literally stopped logging in on that character because I could never log in without the flood of tells ... many coming before I got fully through the loading screen.

I suppose I do just like being able to log into a game and take things at my own pace when I get there. Some days I don't feel like talking to everyone on my friends list ( or those who's I'm on ) asap.

so then ask for a Status indicator , something like " Available , Busy , Appear Offline "

[10:35am] Memorandus Tyr *Logged In* ..wouldnt that be nice to see ? Well , picture your name there instead of mine...heh-heh

I would loved it if they add more space to type messages to on the guild status page, and allow officers to post there with there own section.

Actually, there IS a status indicator. I never knew about it until recently, but I went to look at my friends list, and there it was. When you are "Away" (I haven't tried the other options), then you do not receive /whispers.

As for the notifications -- perhaps notifications ONLY FOR GUILD MEMBERS, not for friends lists?

And yes! More space to type!

Yes, AFK indicator and log in/off message, especially in the Guild Channel, but possibly more and more filters for every chat channel.

/me thinks that the mIRC style is the best possible:

Timestamps <- of course
Notify <- the ones you want, not ALL your guildies or friends, it would be implemented easily adding a new tab in the friends window

What do you think?

I think that in order for this to even get stickied or paid attention to , we have to start a petition or strike

Obviously the developers pay a little attention to whats going on during the game or the /roll wouldnt have been removed. Personally i didnt give a rats behind about that because that didnt affect me directly. I guess there were some issues about spam , but what do you expect when thousands of people are playing the same game at the same time ? I know i dont expect anyone to shush whenever i enter a district..lol. However , there is a fine line between an advertisement and spamming.

However , this thread isnt about the /roll or spamming , so back to my point....

What has to be accomplished for this idea to be recognized and considered by the game devs ?
